What's new

Gave in to temptation..............

Crohns is not pleasant at all but nor is any problem that leaves you with constant pain, I got to a point that I was happy to not go on living if im honest and that is the side that people dont realise can happen its the constant no-ending of it all that tires you down mentally as well as physically.
I hope that they can get you more under control Artic

Yes, I did read it was a pretty rare condition, and that very few doctors would know what is was or how to avoid aggregating it further, so I guess my ignorance can be forgiven! I'm sure you made the choices you simply had to at the time, had you not made them, you could be in a even worse situation now.

what we need is a hydra-vape (I may patent this later :30:) a small ish bedside device providing fresh drinking water upon the press of one button, and varying flavoured vapes from others, VV and VW with a digital display, kind of like the soft drink dispensing guns in pubs. Seriously though, yeah you have to watch your hydration levels on all those meds, as you don't want to risk damaging your kidneys, liver etc on top of your other troubles.

Yeah, Raleigh got his lot alright, rather unfairly really! I was just reading that they gave his wife his severed head, which she kept in a velvet bag until she passed away, can't imagine that smelt too nice after a few years!
Mankind does always seem to find ever more inventive ways to destroy or harm itself, I'm just waiting on the news that vaping isn't the healthy alternative I thought it was .

no, not a biker,I used to have a share in a nifty-fifty when I was 17, but that was my lot! I used to own a few Triumph cars, TR7, Spitfires, they too suffered in the winter, well I did! In that the roofs leaked, the heating was crap, didnt like "getting up" in the morning, often conked out in the middle of nowhere etc. were excellent in the summer though!
someone else on here asked me if the name was taken from the bras!

Adhesive Arachnoiditis and Arachnoiditis are extremely rare if you view it as a percentage of the populous affected by it. Even doctors start reaching for their text books to look it up when I'm in consultation with various medical professionals. If I'd had a choice not to have the surgeries and other treatments that may have contributed to causing the condition, I might have said no; unfortunately I wasn't that lucky and choice was a luxury I simply didn't have. Even if I didn't have it I'd still be struggling with problems and the pain might have been more bearable, but it's all academic now anyway. Yup, you're right about warmer weather being a psychological boost, especially in the UK.

It's all relative though in the end IMHO. I know how Crohns can affect people, it has some absolutely terrible symptoms and I don't know how I'd cope putting up with that, it's a bloody awful disease. It's not like you have life any easier Triumph.

Not too worried about the slight dehydration at the moment. What is concerning me is going through a period of time when I am bedridden and can't hydrate properly. Will maybe have to put a fail safe in place for that just in case. Getting badly dehydrated taking the prescription meds I'm on could do some serious damage. I still think it's worth the risk though.

Lol @ "damn that Sir Walter Raleigh". James I saw to it that good old Sir Walter got his in the end though huh? Lol. Did you know that he said of tobacco; "It was my companion at that most miserable time"; Even back then they immediately reached for the tobacco under times of stress. If he hadn't bought tobacco back then someone else would have in the end. It's amazing how humanity has continually found differing means to cause harm or kill each other in countless ways despite the instinctual drive to live for as long as possible. If that isn't reverse Darwinism at work, then I don't know what is lol :-) .

P.S. Is your name taken from Triumph motorbikes, do you ride bikes?

Thanks m8 :-) . I hear ya bud. I'd be lying if I said that there weren't times when it all gets too much to handle that you reach a crisis point; then some very unpleasant and involuntary irrational thoughts can unfortunately surface. Thankfully they have prescribed me various meds to deal with the psychological issues that go with extreme pain and disability that are quite potent and far more effective compared to meds they've tried in the past. Otherwise, as far as control goes, I'm already pretty much taking as many drugs at such high doses as they dare prescribe, so I'm now stuck as I am, probably for good unless some new radical treatments or surgery is eventually discovered.

Severe medical issues such as Crohns or a serious injury that leads to chronic pain and disability as examples are life altering events and we all deal with it in our own way, but we certainly all have our respective limits too, there's only so much that you can take before something has to give.

One hopes they're keeping you guys as comfortable as possible with your circumstances as they are.

You hang in there too Southernvaper, keep trudging on m8 :-) .

I am at moment quite under control which is tbh a godsend as life did hit rock bottom before, bit that I have major problems with currently is my son and the fact that he may well be following the same route. That aside I do just grin and carry on life, my wife now had a little taster with a few issues and she realises now that it is a real bad thing to live with.
I consider myself A ok at the moment but to be fair im far from it. I have always been one to get up and get on pain or not and my threshold to pain is very high, so much so that when I had pericarditus and they ask you on a scale of 1-10 it wasnt a 10 by anymeans lol

I really do hope they find something to ease your situation bud, when I was on high pain killers and various other meds they too have their problems. Fingers crossed they will discover something than can really change ya life

Lol, that post gave me a bit of a chuckle :rotflmao:

Wow, a Triumph Spitfire. A good friend of mine used to have one when we were younger, as you say, it leaked like a sieve but I remember his had the overdrive that made it quite good fun to drive.

I'll look forward to your "Hydra-Vape" patent lol.

Uuuurrrgghhh, not good your son may have problems too, that's a rough deal, sorry to hear that mate. Indeed, all of the meds have their own side effects that at times really don't help, but without them things would be impossible.

Ahh the Overdrive button! my dad used to have that on his MG when I was a kid, me and my brother always used to shout "hit the go faster switch dad" much to his amusement! Sadly, I had the Pre Overdrive model, the MKIII, so I never had that joy :17:

You may scoff at the Hydra-Vape, but in a few years time, when 98% of homes, public transport, hotels, casinos, and public lavatories in the world have at least one Hydra device, you`ll be kicking yourself and saying to your dis-believing friends "hey I knew the guy who thought of that" :sinister:

Lol. I'm not scoffing at it, you may be onto something. A guy in another post reckoned he was eyeing up his Dyson to MacGyver together a tank he he. Maybe you could start there :diy:

I agree mate much as they have side effects it boils down to needs must

WOW, that would be some tank!! be good for strapping on your back for expeditions or something?! be screwed if it leaked though, probably kill you dead on the spot!

Hmmmmm the Hydra-Vape-Vac................ :jawdrop:
