GBOX 200W Squonk (Coil and Battery Inquiry)

Hello.

I purchased the Gbox 200W Squonk Kit, as well as the coil master DIY v3 kit. I am completely new to building coils, however I have a basic understanding on how to pulse coils once wrapped as well as installation in the correct posts.

Can someone please advise me about how many wraps I need to make my 2 coils for my Radar RDA that came with my GBOX. I wasn't sure of any wires to buy, so I am just going ahead with using my Kanthal Wire (24 GA, A1) that I got in the Coil Master Kit v3.

I just need to know how many wraps the kanthal wire need to be in order to complete my coils, well as how many ohms I should aim to measure in the Coil Master ohm reader.

(FYI: this maybe off topic to my coils inquiry, but I purchased 2 LGH2 18650 Batteries are these suitable for my GBOX mod?)

What's your target resistance? Also, single or dual coil? If you were to do a dual 6 wrap 2.5mm internal diameter, would come out somewhere around 0.22ohms. You can look up ohm calculators online if that's any help [emoji4]

I'm not sure how what my target resistance is? How do I tell you that? (Sorry I'm a big noob ). It's a dual coil build I can tell you that it's an Radar RDA with 4 posts (2 +'s, 2-'s). So you recommend 6 wraps, but what do you mean by 2.5mm internal diameter? Is that the length of the wire I am meant to cut?

Prior to my GBOX. I just use to vape sub-ohm with 0.3 pre-built coils. I wanted to learn how to wrap coils and I thought the best way was to just buy a vape and try it first hand. I saw things about mods exploding if you are not educated enough. However, gbox is regulated, and is an RDA.

Il check out the website. The thing that confuses me is what ohm should I and can I vape at the maximum? The minimum ohm to use on a RDA is nothing lower than 1 Ohm right? What's the maximum?

Minimum ohms on anything is whatever the minimum firing rating limit is. Most are capped at 0.01ohms i think (apes correct me if I'm wrong). If you were used to 0.3ohms, thats a good starting point.

Now, with regards to internal diameter, that is the size of the hole in the centre of the coil. All coil jigs have various diameter pins, I've got a coilmaster set that goes from 1.5mm to 5mm, I usually stick to 2.5mm or 3mm.

So on coil calculators, whether online or phone app, you need to know the guage, material, internal diameter, single or dual coil and either target resistance or number of wraps.

I think (could be slightly off) that a dual coil 6 wrap setup over 3mm coil jig should yield around 0.3ohms, which I personally would fire around 60watts to see whether it's too hot of a vape, or too cool. That part is all down to preference. Hope that helps [emoji4]

So the easy way.......
Use you Coil master tool kit...I assume you know what tools you need for wrapping the wire....
Get the 30 jig make a 6 wrap coil with the supplied wire
Mount that coil on your deck and then check what ohm's you get......is no danger to do this.
Now let's say you get a 0.6 reading.....if you go dual coil then make one more coil like that and stick both in the coil and check again the ohm's . If you are at 0.3 then wick , juice and fire up.
Start from 20W and go up to where you fill ok.
No one can tell you a minimum or maximum because of to many variables ( the wire type , the juice , the tank , the airflow .........)
The safest way is to start low and go up in 5W steps.
Just for example.....clapton coil Ni80 at 0.4 ohm I use at 45W but Brochrome( flat Ni80) at 0.4 ohm I use at 25W and I get a better flavour. The Brochrome at 45W no wick it will melt.

I am still learning and this is the method I use to learn about coils

It'll be much easier to watch whilst someone is talking you through it.

Thanks you everyone for the help and kind information. I will take it all into account and try out my build. Once done I will let you guys know how it goes. I live in a country where vaping is banned so I an trying to get my hands on wires. I used all the wire given in my coil master kit, as I am a first time builder I was practicing my building and couldn't get the coils built properly.

LE : just found an article about this.......didn't think that in some countries vaping can be banned.....
