Hi all,
New to the forum, and pretty new to vaping. I'm doing it to give up cigarettes. I've tried a few vapes but can't get the tobacco taste.
I've got a Vaporesso solo plus, using Black Note Virginia tobacco, 12mg and PG/VG of 50/50, with a 1.3 ohm coil. Trouble is the taste is very bitter and metallic, and not much tobacco taste. Any suggestions for a different fluid that tastes better?
I've also got a Geekvape S100 100W. Trouble with that one is the fluid crackles and bubbles, and is vey harsh. I've tried it with different temp settings using the mentioned fluid, both the standard mix and diluting it with glycerine mixed in (about 1/4 of the backy fluid) to thicken it. Neither have worked.
Any ideas please? I need to give up cigarettes and vapes seem my best hope. Thanks

Hi GolanT, I haven't smoked in about 9 weeks thanks to vaping and I can't see me going back...so its possible, hang in there!

I'm not sure what kit that is but I know the liquid you are using is highly rated. I had the same problem as you, chose tobacco liquids and couldn't get anything like the flavour. I gave up trying and started looking for other flavours as a substitute but still missed that smokiness. Everything ends up a bit sweet and it's not always the right time.

But! I gave my tobacco liquids another go and I have to say it worked. 4 or 5 weeks sat on my shelf and really soaking my coils before vaping, a few hours minimum and I got a smoky experience out of liquids that cost a few quid. So maybe give that a try?

I also lowered the nicotine strength so that I could vape more, like a proper fag break, before that throat tingle got too much. 6mg or 10 mg salts I go for and then I can cane them. Hope this helps a little.

Just had a look at your kits online, they both seem to be sub ohm kits, are you sure that you have a 1.3 ohm coil and not a 0.13? For a cigarette experience you are better off with a high resistance, low power device with a 50/50 liquid. Which is why you found it didn't taste right and was harsh. Your device works better with a 70/30 liquid and high power, unfortunately tobacco liquids are more scarce but there are some out there. Good luck and don't give up giving up!

Hi @GolanT, I gave up smoking by vaping over 10 years ago and like you I didn`t get on with the tobacco flavours that were about at that time because I was missing the taste of smoke not the taste of tobacco. What helped me stay off the ciggies was to add a little menthol to the baccy liquid and aim more for a Consulate taste.
I agree with the previous post that you should double check your ohmage, if memory serves when I was vaping a 1.3ohm coil a wattage of between 13 and 20 watts was the sweet spot.
It is a good time to switch to vaping at the moment, the market is flooded with good mouth to lung pod systems which can be set up to mimic the experience of smoking until you feel ready to move on to the more usual vape gear, or not, as suits your needs.
The important thing is not to give up just because your first attempt did not give you the satisfaction that you need. There are millions of ex smokers sucking on a myriad of devices containing a myriad different juices without giving smoking a second thought.
The conversion from smoking to vaping is a process and the key is persistence, just dont give up.
Good luck.

Both the devices you mention look to be for sub-ohm vaping so 50/50 juice won't suit them and 12mg is high for a sub-ohm vape. Black Note juices sold in the UK are I believe all 50/50 and diluting them will definitely impact the flavour. For NETs you could try Juice Cabin as they do them in 70/30 and 60/40.

There are lots of synthetic tobacco juices available so you could try some of those or non-tobacco flavours. As has been said stick at it and good luck with quitting the fags.

Can I ask what wattage you’ve set?
A1.3 coil with 50-50 juice would, I suggest, be vaped at around 7-15 watts.

Hi @GolanT and welcome

Many on here prefer NET juices (= naturally extracted tobacco). Blacknote is a popular brand, and also El Toro. Personally I don't rate blacknote (but many do) and I haven't tried El Toro.

When I first started vaping I found vape pig to produce the most realistically flavoured eliquids. They actually tasted like smoking a cigarette, as opposed to tasting like the smell of tobacco in a tin... if that makes sense.

Hi @GolanT and welcome to the planet.

ive not got the kits you mentioned so can you confirm these are them as the solo plus is a sub ohm kit for higher wattage https://www.vapeclub.co.uk/vape-kits/vaporesso/sky-solo-plus

same with the geekvape s100 https://www.vapeclub.co.uk/vape-kits/geekvape/geekvape-s100-aegis-solo-2-vape-kit its for sub ohm at higher wattage.

also youve not mention which tank you are using on this mod as it doesnt look like they come with 1.3ohm coils which youve mentioned you are using.

it doesnt matter what mod (battery) you use as long as you keep the wattage low and use a mouth to lung tank.
using a high powered sub ohm kit is the best of both worlds as you can start of with mouth to lung MTL tank just like smoking and then later down the road use a sub ohm tank on the same mod for higher wattage cloud chucking.

as said, youve not mentioned any wattage you are running at.
you have mentioned metallic taste though so this question has to be asked as so many people have made this mistake in the past.
have you got the mod set to wattage/power mode and not TC temperature control mode as TC can only use certain coils that have Ni nickel, Ti titanium and SS stanless steel coils.
i remember back in the day quite a few mentioned a metalic taste and they were using TC by accident.
if you could post a picture of your screen we can clear this up. you may need a couple more posts though before you can post a pic so in the mean time does your screen show numbers like 10W or does it show 220C or 100F (i dont do TC so these are just example numbers).

also the only backy infused flavours ive used are from Manabush which are worth a look https://manabush.com/

Another vote for manabush - they're not straight tobacco flavours, but some are very tobaccoey - The Leaf, Twisted Leaf, Firewater and Indigene ranges will all give you that tobacco satisfaction

One thing to consider with Black Note is that it may need steeping for a few weeks. Haven't had any for years but when I first tried one it tasted of old rubber. The flavour properly developed after a few weeks. Maybe it's different now but it was just a thought.
