Glass to metal on a tank?

I am curious as to if anyone has done this? (Obviously mine has smashed and struggling to source at sensible money)

So I think why not swap out for a section of metal pipe (28mm od in this case , and 22 mm long).
(I know some will say how do you know when you can't see when to refill? I can tell as the flavour drops for a toot or 2, if I miss that, the dry burn is a giveaway lol)

Choices are transparent or coloured acrylic, possibly also plastic (like waste pipe), but I think they would look shite or copper, brass, aluminium or stainless tube. Which I think could look cool on a black atti.
Copper easiest to have a play with as I work on a building site.

Questions would be, any reason to favour one material over another other than aesthetics, and how easy for a bricky with a hacksaw and some sandpaper will this be to get to seat on the o rings without any leaks. In an ideal world I don't won't to have to ram tight it to stop leaks,

Just buy a proper replacement for the tank. You don't know what shit will leach out onto the liquid with these proposals.

Kind of part of why I asked the question tbh, to see if anyone knew of anything that could (logically I don't fancy copper but stainless should be fine)
There are reasons why I don't want to buy a glass , it ain't a case of £3 on fleabay and jobsaguden

Well buy another tank for situations where you're likely to break it. There are plenty of them with plastic instead of glass.

Copper has anti-bacterial qualities which might be a plus.
You won’t get a square cut with a hacksaw - you’d need a pipe slice.
You’ll be a long time cutting through SS with a hacksaw, and it won’t be square. And sandpaper won’t touch it to smooth it down.

Tbf that would be pretty much all the time.

Let's just say I have given this some thought, and decided it's a realistic proposition to swap out (though its smashed)for something I can fabricate myself (hopefully)

If you want the long version

I have a steam crave v2, no short chimney but a short glass. So need a short chimney until I break the short glass then am stuffed unless I can find spare glass
I have the long extension chimney but cannot buy extended glass without buying a full kit which is getting on fir 20 quid posted. Admittedly I will be able to drop it a few times before I run out of tackle mind.
Tbh it's nearly as cheap to by another sc or something else which has also been considered
But I like the sc, I build on it nicely, so wish to keep

Leaving me with the option of a bit of 28mm pipe, a hacksaw and some wet and dry

Tbf the reason I say hacksaw and not pipeslice is because I reckon I will struggle to get the length accurate enough.
But I do get your point

some atties come with a metal tank section. or you can buy it as an extra.

Copper may be easier to cut and dress, but make sure you aren't susceptible to the taste. Personally I've always found vaping in copper atomisers makes the juice taste like boiled shit.
