The wife's father is coming over for xmas dinner, he'll mostly sleep in front of the woodburner I hope.

We'll all be paying the price for this 3 household shit, it's a recipe for disaster. Well done Boris for not cancelling xmas, let's see how many more you hospitalise and kill off.

Then again if Starmer was in charge he might have said "we allowed 6 people to mix, so we can allow 6 household to mix over Xmas"
Or he might have said "Its a religious festival, so we can allow 15 people from any household to mix, just as in weddings"

There is to much Boris bashing when you consider that the entire world is in an unprecedented situation, and unsure of what to do in any situation at the moment.

Starmer would have us all tied down in ours beds for the next 10 years, if he could, bloke's a control freak and is lockdown obsessed.

Boris and team have repeatedly stated that they are following the science, so they are rightly questioned whenever they deviate from that. When political expediency trumps scientific advice, which is clearly the case here, then he has decided to accept the higher risk and is responsible for the consequences.

That's defence by stating an over-exaggerated false dichotomy. Desperate case of comfort seeking? I would be nervous too, which is why it's good that we have personal choice on whether to follow Boris's advice or not. When hospitalisations and deaths rise in January, we know who Boris will be blaming as he dons the Teflon coat.

there are ways...

I know, but I don’t mix in the kind of circles where I can just buy it, because.... well, I don’t really mix in any circles. The few friends I’ve got left are middle class wine drinkers (I hate wine) :(

Hehe, its legal now in new jersey, 20 minutes away from me

I’d say I’m jealous but... mmmm, America, civil war, etc, nope! :P
