Boris and team have repeatedly stated that they are following the science, so they are rightly questioned whenever they deviate from that. When political expediency trumps scientific advice, which is clearly the case here, then he has decided to accept the higher risk and is responsible for the consequences.

Hi, sorry for the delayed reply, but I have had a hell of a lot to deal with for the last week involving hospitals, and covid tests.

Unfortunately your view on the situation in simplistic, and flawed.

Boris is not simply told to follow a certain a certain course of action by SAGE, but then ignores it.

Let’s see how it works in practice.

SAGE gathers information from three, or four different scientific groups, including the WHO organisation, on a regular basis.

Now this second level of scientists also obviously have mates all over the world in the same sphere of work, and they get varying opinions from them.

So SAGE is bombarded with information from around the world, and has to try to give advice to the government via the government’s Chief Medical Advisor, even though some of this information may well be contradictory.

Then there is a cabinet meeting to discuss the recommendations, together with some others from various other bodies such as the Dept for the economy, the NHS, etc.

Now Boris has to come up with next weeks game plan to try to deal with the fluidic situation the virus has created.

Don’t forget that the scientists change their minds frequently.

Remember at the start of it all when the WHO took months to even decide if wearing face masks would help ?

I watched a recording on Wednesday evening on one of the BBC channels (originally broadcast on Monday) the documentary looked into the role of the scientist from back in Feb when the first case in the UK was discovered.

Dithering, differences of opinion, and what should be done abounded.

By the end of the documentary they were starting to absolve themselves of any blame by saying that their “epidemic modeling software” did not work correctly because of out of date information submitted by the NHS.

So maybe the NHS should get the blame for the mess we find ourselves in.

In the meantime Boris gets all the blame because the general population wrongly assume that he does whatever he feels.

I would not want his job for all the gold in Fort Knox, he is just a patsy, forced into doing whatever every other fucker wants him to do.

You can have 5 people from 3 different households round your house for Xmas but you can't meet them in a pub or restaurant ?

You can't mix with people from outside your bubble but you can go and get your hair and nails done ?

You can eat in a pub but can't sit and have a drink ?

You can go to work but can't have a Xmas party with the same people ?

You can travel in and out of Scotland and Wales for 5 days but you can't stay there into the new year ?

Whats hard to understand ? All makes perfect sense to me ,NOT.

That's fucking hilarious. You dismiss my view as simplistic and flawed and counter it by dribbling out whatever you can still remember from whatever it is you were spood-fed with ... based on a documentary you watched?

Sure, I get that folk wouldn't want to do his job and so cut him some slack ... but he's been behind the curve from day one and is clearly not up to it. If you want to see flawed simplicity, just take a look again at the broad brush proposed restrictions coming up. Biden has his number, described him perfectly. Boris is a corrupt, bumbling, populist, self-serving Tory cunt. The dumb fuck caught Covid himself by ignoring advice.

They will have modeled the likely cost of this 5 day Covid spree and Boris has taken that to avoid the "Boris the Grinch bans xmas" headlines in the daily rags. it's pure political expediency.

the rules and regs that came out at the beginning of the middle of the crisis were stunning that we had from upon high

we were told you had to doff your ppe before you leave a room with someone who had covid except your facemask but no one thought "hmm if I take off my ppe in the room full of covid will it not then go on my scrubs" like sheep some fellow workers did this (thank god they were only suspected cases) until some bright spark the next day came rushing in and said "new guidelines don't do it take your ppe off in the cleanroom next door and decontaminate" it was following the science the guidelines given by people who haven't got a bloody clue

in a world of common sense.....sense isn't very common

Well I like the fact that I have made you laugh, as I have always said through life “if I can put a smile on someone’s face everyday, I I am a happy man myself.
However, it’s not really appropriate for you to say that it is “hilarious when used in a discussion regarding an aspect of the covid situation with hundreds of people dying each day…………….
What the hell is “spood-fed” was that a typo, or is it a local dialect where you reside ?
Anyway, my opinions are not simply based on one recent documentary, I reade several different newspapers, news channels on tv including BBC news 24 hours, SKY news, Euro news, AlJazeera, and the Parliamentary channel, plus documentaries on many channels, in order to gain information from various sources to form an unbiased opinion.
So, may I ask what you base your opinion on, given that by inference you distrust documentaries, and presumably other media reports ?
Is your opinion based on your own theories entirely, and therefore simple fantasy.

Sure, I get that folk wouldn't want to do his job and so cut him some slack ... but he's been behind the curve from day one and is clearly not up to it.

I think that right from the start Boris has given “some slack” and that is the reason why the British complain, but generally accept it, and the reasons why. It can be compared with the old carrot & stick approach, do what is needed as much as possible, but to obtain, you have to have reward. It’s the British “stiff upper lip” that we are famous for. Look at other countries, higher restrictions, and ended up with the military, and riot police patrolling the streets, mass protests, arrests, and injuries. Did that rid them of covid, of course it didn’t.

I am not at all happy with the restrictions in my area, but this is another part of your flawed opinion, you complain that Boris does not follow the scientific advisors, at the same time you are now complaining that he is, you can’t have it both ways mate.
Biden can have his own opinion about Boris, and of course that is what you can do, but I can have mine as well, as for Biden American politics is all about money, and power, most presidents have been the same, it will be interesting to see what happens with the Covid infection rate in the US now that Biden is in charge, nothing I expect.
As to Boris being a dumb fuck, I could say the same thing about Starmer.
Boris was unlucky to get Covid, just the same as any of us could, I have stuck to the rules of all the lockdowns, but I do not use any of the slogans such as “stay safe” the only one I say to my friends is “stay lucky”
They will have modeled the likely cost of this 5 day Covid spree and Boris has taken that to avoid the "Boris the Grinch bans xmas" headlines in the daily rags. it's pure political expediency.

On this “you makes your choice, you pays your price” is an old saying that comes to mind on this. You have an opportunity to have family round your place for a few days, or visit them.
If you want to “stay safe” or as I say “stay lucky”, you stay at home by yourself just as if the lockdown had not been suspended, it’s your choice.
