Right here is the final nail in the coffin for the anti e-cig lobby in the UK...

Action on Smoking and Health, Association of Directors of Public Health, British Lung Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Faculty of Public Health, Public Health Action (PHA), Royal College of Physicians, Royal Society of Public Health, Tobacco Free Futures, UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies and UK Health Forum along with the actual government (this has been posted direct on the GOV UK site) have all chimed in with support to Public Health Englands findings...

The UK Government now technically has a case to block or halt the implementation of the TPD's Article 20 in the UK.

It'd be nice to think of it as the final nail but the only thing that'll put McKee down is a stake through the heart.

Or rather...it'll be the seventeen steak & chips he has for every teatime on his heart.

But then I suspect he doesn't have a heart.

Definitely a step in the right direction but another more explicit step and statement would be required to feel confident about this.
We all know that logically, legally and morally UK Govt via the MHRA now has to either block the TPD or implement it very lightly but it doesn't look like the connection has been made yet.
... and don't forget ... vapers would benefit from some proportionate and appropriate regulation.

Great videos

Love ur videos on YouTube Vic, always very thorough and informative not always just "buy this tank or this juice" like other channels , u also cover other subjects I.e the popcorn lung issue .keep up the good work

Let's not all forget, govts do ulterior motives by design. There is always a "what can we get out of it to increase public spending?" Short term we feel protected and safe through regulation and health studies, but long term, we feel robbed. Where the govts health advocacy can be seen as a safety net, it can also take the fun out of this great hobby.

The govt know they were late to this party and are missing out on a huge chunk of national spending and its only going to get bigger!

Take this info on the site linked...

And I quote "In October this year, regulations to protect children will make it an offence to sell e-cigarettes to anyone under 18 or to buy e-cigarettes for them"

Really!!!? Vendors and shops selling e-juices and vaping items have been implementing that little gem forever without govt intervention through common sense and due diligence, my place of work has a 'challenge 25' slapped all over it.
And don't you hate that word...e-cigarette! They are tarring vaping with the same stigma on their own site and there is no tar in vaping!!

What about "...and within a year the*EU Tobacco Products Directive*proposes a ban on all print and broadcast advertising of e-cigarettes as part of a full range of regulations."
This could mean the end of vaporiums and such, all e-juices and equipment will be placed behind closed doors, same as the stinkies, and become generic items!

I know we have to fight one battle at a time and I am all for protecting kids (and mine) from nicotine till they can make the decision for themselves but its all about control and money in the end!

Sorry if this sounds like a rant, I could pick on things all day but it is just meant as a point of view from myself and I am a terrible synic... I don't hate the govt...

...much

I think this is going to be an interesting time :D

If you look at how various member states implement EU policy it's not always clear cut. Britain tends to be one of the more rigorous implementers of policy .... France frequently signs up to EU policies and the ignores them at an enforcement level. If you want to hear a lot of shouting talk to an English egg producer .... in the UK we obey and implement all the rules ... the French sign up to the policy and do nothing to make any of their producers comply 'cos it costs money.

As long as the various UK health bodies keep with the current message (and be warned, they could change their minds faster than a spinning jenny if it suits them), then the British government would be in the invidious position of going against their own health departments recommendations and kinda forcing people to smoke :D (NRT is proven not to work by the Office of Statistics).

What they could do is sign up to the TPD and then do nothing to enforce it, bar getting their tax money back by some method (tax on nicotine). It would take years for the EU to a:) notice it was happening, and b:) do anything about it like taking the British Government to the European Court and fining them.

Ultimately it would cost the UK government money to enforce the policy, and god knows we don't have a cash surplus and we do have a lot of better things to spend it on.

If we're lucky then an MP will take up killing this bill as a vote winner, and we can move past this rubbish and vape quietly and happily without the furor :)

If not It's gonna be tough for the British Government to do much about it, and I can't see them having much appetite.

Anyone bought tobacco products from a car boot pre-vaping ? The UK government's pretty hot on that and they still can't do much about it :)

At least they refer to use as "vapers" as opposed to some stupid shit like "personal electonic tobacco replacement device users".

Definitely true. After 9 months as a bloody foreigner in France, it's quite clear that not a lot of shit is given about this sort of stuff (ditto traffic laws). The French interpretation of the indoor smoking ban is certainly not the same as the British; it seems you can smoke inside here as long as you can touch the door/windowframe. The 20 mg/mL nicotine limit for eliquid is already in force though.

I'm not sure how long I'll stay here, but it could be a while so it will be interesting to see how it pans out. I'm supporting and signing anti TPD stuff whenever I see it in the meantime.
