Last year I was vaping and had a really bad e-cig experience.

I was inhaling as usual and then on one instead of getting the usual throat hit, I got a mouthful of sand/dusty texture moisture. I had to wash my mouth out for like 5 minutes just to get the taste out of my mouth. I dunno how else to describe it, I was using a well known brand e-cig and had been using it for over 3 months. The e liquid was admittedly a very cheap brand.

anyway the experience was so bad I ended up back on cigs. Any ideas what this coulda been and what caused it?

I do want to get back into e-cigs

As said above Dry Hit meaning your cotton or coil is dry it happens to us all not a very nice taste.

Something could have found it's way down the drip tip and been vaporized.
All sorts can end up in there if you keep it in a pocket.

Yes, I went to rewick a tank a while back and found that I had been vaping "dead fly" flavour, it wasn't quite a blue bottle size, but even so, not very nice to find in there.

I had a very similar experience not so long ago, a small fruit fly got sucked in to the airflow of my falcon stock coil tank, it exploded when it hit the mesh. That coil went in the bin straight away and there was a lot of swearing, coughing and spitting.

Probably the coil gave up and gave you a huge dry hit. Hope you manage to get back in to vaping.

I have always thought Drip Tips should have some sort of cover or lid, if i am leaving a tank say over night i have a few pop bottle tops that i put over the drip tip to keep the nasties out. I have a weak stomach after years of abuse mainly Vodka. If i thought i had vaped a fly or some other bug i would just throw up. The very thought of it makes me feel sick.

Yeah, I agree... gives a whole new meaning to First Drag of the Day.

It has been done before but I'm not sure why it's never really caught on, is it as simple as 'It's not a sexy selling point' or is there a good reason why they don't?

You can get the drip tips with the spit back guards for larger things. Personally I use those drip tip covers that are attached to a vape band if I'm using a mitre saw or something or if I think I'm probably not going to use a tank which has a coil in for a while, ugly but they do the job.
