I've used drip tip covers for a few years now. When I used to have at minimum a dozen kits all on the go at any given time, I always covered them when not in use. With an open fire place and just general dust and shite they're an absolute must, IMHO.

I use this type of flexible rubber tip. Managed to buy a load of them with different sizes that fit 510, 810 and custom tips.
