Dear Apes,

I'm in deer need of advice as my bank account has been drained and I can't get my DIY mixes straight. I've been getting harsh throat hits with my mixes and I have now tried 3 various nicotine brands that have very high reputation around the forums and are generally recommended by everyone.

I started doing the elimination method, tried first just 70VG/30PG mix, smooth can't feel a thing. Add 0.6% dilution of nicotine to that mix and it has an extremely harsh bite at the back of the throat.

Even what I believe is the most quality nicotine I was able to acquire (super clear and didn't smell at all) is giving me quite the unpleasant hit. Where am I going wrong here? This throat hit doesn't do it for me at all and makes it completely unvapable, I'm a smooth vape type of guy (favourite e-liquid is Ez Duz It by Ruthless which gives me no throat hit at all)

Any help will be greatly appreciated, I've been trying to get into DIY'ing for a couple of months now and always put it to some error in my mixes but I really don't know what to do now...

As you've tried different nicotines, the next assumption or wild arsed guess is to cut the PG content. Is it PG based nic you're using?

I've made a few juices for a chap at work and if I add any extra PG to the mix he says the same as you - annoying throat hit. After a wee control experiment last night of me adding extra PG to an already ~85/15 VG/PG mix I know where he is coming from.

I'm so used to high VG juice that any more than 20% and I am noticing a fair difference in experience especially on higher powered kit like the TFV or a dripper. However, on a Temp Control build in the Lemo I can take a 50/50 mix nae bother. Hmm.

TL,DR - cut the PG if on high powered kit.

what tank, mod and coil are you using and also at what wattage. this will give a better idea on what to advise.

Just as an aside ... clarity of nicbase and clearness of colour is not an indication of super quality at all - and in fact can at times be quite the opposite.

Smell is a better indication .. no smell to a slightly earthy scent being good .. and any kind of chemical / diesely smell being crap and likely to taint your juices.

I've tried various VG/PG mixes, it's not the amount of PG I use unfortunately.

SubTank Mini v2 on various wattages using TC. Basically I'm using the same tank/same settings I use and for my choice of store bough e-liquid it doesn't give me harsh hit.

Unfortunately even the "good" smelling nicotine seems to be giving me problems?

Is it PG or VG Nic base?
Two of them are VG and one is PG. The third one (VG) is bought from what many people on the forums say are "the most quality nicotine suppliers" and according to their own advertisement their VG nicotine was potentially even better than their PG one. It's definitely the best smelling nicotine, but no dice :/

soz but cant help much with TC mode. tried and didnt think much too it so gave up.

Well I'm starting to think that they might be putting something in my liquid of choice that actually makes the throat hit smoother. I bought Suicide Bunny today as the shop I was visiting didn't have my Ez Duz It and it has kind of a harsh hit as well (although nothing of the pepperiness I'm getting with my mixes)
