Hello!

Anyone ever get a sensation at the back of your throat like something's stuck? Like when you swallow a tablet and it doesn't quite go down right, you feel it for ages afterwards as if it's slightly bruised? I must stress, it doesn't hurt as such and I don't think it's the sore throat thing some people get. It's more a sensation of something being 'stuck'.

Basically I've been vaping on and off for a few years (mainly off, having gone back to cigarettes for ages at a time). I've been completely off the fags for a while now but have mainly vaped 50/50 PG MTL. Then I started getting into high VG sub-ohming but still flipped between the two throughout each day. For the past couple of days I've been almost exclusively sub-ohming high VG and have had this throat issue appear.

I try to drink plenty but should probably drink more. The throat issue started again while out (sub-ohming) but since I've been home I've only vaped 50/50 and the throat thing is much better (but still not gone). Could it be the VG or the direct lung vaping? I'll be gutted if it's the VG as I much prefer to vape that. I always assumed throat issues came from PG, although I've never had any before.

Sorry for the long post but any help would be appreciated.

I'd be inclined to say it's probably a lack of hydration more than anything. I often get a bit of a dry throat but I am rubbish at drinking enough water throughout the day as it is. Maybe try drinking a bit more and see how you get on. I haven't heard many people reacting to VG the same as PG, but then not everyone is the same so it could just not agree with you

I used to have that a few times when I was smoking :(
It's fucking frustrating that it doesn't go away.

Haven't had the issue in years but it was probably something like a spot in your wind pipe.

If it's really a problem go and get checked out by a doctor.

@darroharro - I'm hoping it's just dryness and I'll try to drink more. I don't think I've ever noticed it before when just on 50/50

@mick brown - only 3mg for sub-ohming, never used anything higher. Either 12 or 18mg 50/50

@robotica - never had it with smoking and don't remember having it before with vaping either. My gran had throat cancer so it's a bit worrying tbh. I had it during the day yesterday but didn't have it at all when I woke up this morning so really hoping it's nothing serious!

Both VG and PG are hygroscopic, they attract moisture so when you vape they will remove moisture from the mucous membranes of your mouth, throat, nasal cavities etc and then ofc you exhale it so you lose extra water from your body when vaping, this is particularly noticeable if you chain vape so you need to stay hydrated. Go take a pee and pay attention to the colour lol thats a pretty good way to determine whether you need to be drinking more water ;) Getting checked out by your GP is a good idea even if it's just to put your mind at rest about your throat - stress can cause dehydration too :)

As with anything @pekin if it's concerning you there is no harm in getting it checked out by your gp. Better to be safe than sorry.
Also if you are currently more off the cigs than you have been previously, then it could be the effects of withdrawal from many of the nasty ingredients in cigs. Keep up the good work keeping off the cigs mate, it's the best thing you can do

Thanks, everyone, I'll keep you posted on how it goes. This forum is a bit of a godsend!

I had this last week while eating a sandwich and was so bad I nearly left work and went home. It took a week to clear up.

Dryness of the throat has been mentioned and this probably makes us susceptible to damage from dry food when swallowing. Once your throat is scratched you will have that feeling of something being stuck there.

The other possibility is trapped wind, possibly caused by vaping. This will build pressure on your epiglottis and create the same sensation.
