Just trying to coil and wick my velocity clone it's the very first dripper I've owned and I'm trying to use some pre built coils I bought

Does this look ok as I'm a tad worried about the ends of the coils I've snipped as far as I can

Any help is greatly appreciated

Edge of the coils look like they will touch the inside of the barrel which will cause a short. Get a coil pin or screwdriver loosen the screws and shove the coils in a tad then get them at the same height. Looks like Hive wire. What's your ohmeter read when you put the barrel on?

It is hive wire they are 0.4ohm coils made by wotofo. I will do need to get some snippers so I can trim the ends better. Don't own an ohmeter but screwed onto xcube 2 and it reads 0.15ohm atm

Still reading 0.15 with the barrel on?

I agree with @drinhs that it looks from photos that it would short when you put the top on.
I personally would struggle to get them closer to the post once the ends are off.
I like to use the ends to pull the the coils towards the posts while you have screwdriver in the coil.

Edit you got you last coment in while I was typing.
So I could be wrong.

Well 2 X 0.4 ohm coils in dual should give you 0.2 overall. It does mean you are not getting a short though :-) I would get your coils at the same height recheck the resistance then test fire at 12 watts to make sure they are glowing evenly and glowing together

However if the coils are close to the side of the barrel it's going to get hot!

No worries as @oldhippydude said its a lot easier to manipulate your coils with the legs still on. Good luck you're on the right track
