Help - why is my Fogger v4 build so crap?

I've just started building my own coils and have a Fogger v4 tank to build on and my first attempt is, well, crap! the coils take a good few seconds to heat up even with a fresh battery (using a Smok Fury-s mech mod) and whilst i'm getting some vapour it is pretty pathetic. The set up is 2 micro coils (8 wraps of 28 guage kanthal on 2mm drill bit) which are reading 0.96 ohms on my ohm meter, and cotton wool wick, and the juice is a 65/35 PG/VG mix.

Any advice will be very gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First thing I would check is that your 510 connection is making good contact and do the same with your mech switch and battery. If that fails suck the juice out of the tank and take a look to make sure the post screws are good and tight.

A wee picture of your build would also be very helpful in possibly identifying the problem :)

+1 on this.

I have 2 x Foggers (a 4.0 and a 4.1) and both of them are susceptible to the wires not being clamped well enough in the posts. They are fiddly to build in my opinion, and I have reverted back to my Kayfun's and added a Squape R to my atomizer pile instead, all of which are a doddle to build, and vape a treat.

Try not to leave long tails on the coils, pulse and compress the coils before wicking and personally, I found there's less 'lag' when coils are a bit lower ohmage. Maybe you tried a build with 1 less wrap on each coil and see if it helps?

Justba thought... maybe the juice channels could be too full of cotton? So not drawing as much liquid through. .. and check coils are sitting just above the air holes...

Continuing on from this, if you are wicking like the build below (which you should do as it works perfect every time) just make sure than you don't push cotton down covering the airholes.

Just got 4.1 version...built it with a .7ohm single coil; wicked it with cotton in two u shapes (found the build on YouTube but cannot remember link). Have it on my Kato using a vicious ant drip tip and boy does it vape lovely. You could try that build as it seems to work really well.

You're doing better than I managed, it took me four builds before it stopped pissing e-liquid out of the airholes. And it holds a lot of juice - especially when it doesn't.

Eventually I followed the build of Bloody Good Vaping on the Big Fogger (the v4 on steroids, I think - deck certainly looks the same). As earlier poster noted, wicks rising straight out of the channels, arcing to coil and over to opposite channel.

It is tricky to judge the right amount of cotton, between avoiding a flood and choking the wick. Not so forgiving as a Kayfun. When it does work though, it's a hoot!

Thanks for the replies, i've re-built it since my original post, tried 11 wraps instead of 8 and whilst the coils now seem to be heating up a bit quicker the vape is still not very good. I'll watch a couple of the vids on youtube and try and persevere with it for a bit longer. It does seem that the draw on it is very loose, with the air hole fully closed there is nothing (as expected) but even when it is just a fraction open it is incredibly airy, is this normal?

Yes it has a very airy draw, try a small bore drip tip.
