Thanks Hamster. Coiled the wire, 3 strand with just a pen. Tied it and put it through the clip and just twisted. Did my wraps around a 3mm precision screwdriver, it's got a lip on the handle so you can push the end of the wire against it with your finger to get the coils tight against each other. I then dry fired it and squeezed with some pliers to get it nice and tight. I've spent the last week or so watching videos so got a few tips from various you tubers. Only thing I have a problem with is trying to get the screws in and out without a magnetic screwdriver/allen key!
For a free hand and first go, not bad at all bud
.
For pinching up your coils get yourself some ceramic tweezers. If you accidentally pinch using pliers whilst still firing, it's not going to be pretty lol
. Ceramic tweezers allow you to pinch whilst firing to really get all of your wraps closed up.
If you're really getting serious about building your own coils, especially twisted multiple, claptons, alien, etc, etc.
You can pick up a cheap screwdriver/drill (the type with an adjustable chuck) for as little as £15 these days and create alsorts of different wire builds with one. Get a Coil Master coiling tool and you'll be making perfect coils everytime (or a full Coil Master kit if you wish), and a Coil Master 521 tab is absolutely brilliant for building on, has a very accurate ohms reader and they're designed for pre burning your coils too. Get some fishing swivels and for example you can make meters of your own clapton wire in minutes.
The Vape Mesh Company or Stealthvape have just about every wire and gauge you can think of too.
Happy vaping, enjoy your building
