Yes. Always prime coils before use. It could make the coils last longer as the mod will cut power as the coil dries.

I know in the past I haven't really always primed my coils prroperly. They tend to last 5-7 days, is this a lot less than usual? On the other hand I'm using a pen type battery which is weaker but no doubt I've not got the best out of them....

Hard to say, some coils last a week some longer I think nautilus coils should last around 2 weeks. 1-2 weeks tends to be the norm ive heard of some lasting a lot longer.
i started with a ego pen vape with a protank id get anything from 1-4 weeks, then changed to a mod and innokin zlide tank wich i got 2 weeks per coil, then onto rebuildable tanks so now its irrelevent how long they last as for mtl vaping you can get enough wire and cotton to last a couple of years for around the same price of a pack of coils. Much better than sourcing coils often plus using the same wire and cotton on various tanks means you can have several different tanks without the need to source and buy several different coils.

The rebuilding your own coils thing definately has some interest for me... it will probably be the next natural step what kit have you got these days then, to do that how hard is it to learn?

If you can wrap a bit of wire around a small screwdriver you can make a coil. Wicking can be a bit trail and error to get right different tanks might require different wicking.
for MTL I usually use 28g kanthal roundwire, 5 or 6 wraps around a 2.5mm coil jig for a 1-1.2ohm coil. For wicks I use muji or labo cotton.
For me the hard part is knowing wich wire to use. but for MTL simple roundwire coils are good.

the setup I use most at the moment is a vapefly galaxies rdta and geekvape aegis squonk mod.

as I was typing that the postie arrived with a eleaf pico squeeze 2 squonk mod

Thanks. For the rebuildable part, what type of atomiser is it? So you just continually replace the wiring and wick around the atomiser?

2 years worth of raw material at the same cost as a pack of coils does seem much more resourceful I must say.

Yes, I only use regulated mods.
rta tanks generally have 2 posts (for single coil builds) that the ends of the looped coil wire attatches and the wick is threaded through the wire.
Theres loads of vids on youtube for different tanks.

Simplest way to learn coiling is to buy a Coilmaster v4 kit, some wire and some ceramic tweezers and a bag of muji or whatever cotton you fancy trying. Ask any other questions as you tinker away.
