What's new

Hi Single banger ex-Lurker

banger: a diy copper tube and plumbing fitting mech mod perhaps?

i can imagine a lot of those went BANG!!

Ha Gotya.. as an ex rat biker myself tc 360 with a superdream sprocket set (wheelie city) i should have gotten that.. ( a double banger i suppose..) Now i have a 76 CB750F1 gathering dust in the garage.. a quad banger?

I was thinking diy copper tube/plumbing fitting mech mod so was again shooting wide of the target..
Haha now that would be a banger! What was the original actual banger again? I forget, the original Noisy Cricket tended to go bang, but it wasn't tube. There was an infamous tube mod but the name escapes me... never mind.
Aye, just let the CB gather dust, nice and cosy in a corner - a classic can only appreciate in value, be a shame to take it out and bend it!
Mind you, on the other hand, itnwas built to be ridden - as my old man said after he tanned a seriously expensive bottle of Scotch I got him as an investment - "Good whisky is for drinking son, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow!"
Old bugger never saved me so much as a drop!

Whotto I say ding dong a spiffing welcome to you, rather glad you found us.
Cheers! Been lurking around occasionally for a few years - Just decided answers and info would be better if I actually joined the Forum - that or I'm just off my nut with 'social distancing!'

I though he was either pining for vamo's or rambo, not decided which yet.
More mundane than that - taken from The Sensational Alex Harvie Band's eponymous hero...
But Vamos? Jeez, I did stumble into more greybeards! - Vamo, last of the V5 interceptors...be a shame to blow it up" to misquote the 'mechanic'

Cheers all for that warm welcome!
I stuck my first post over in the old, sadly cobwebby "Single Coil RTA supporters'" thread - where it would be hidden from critical eyes while awaiting moderation.
I got a bit carried away... but, if you can find it - help yerselves while I go for a kip. The poor thread needs some TLC.
Not strictly a Single RTA man, any rebuildable - but I'll be buggered if I fanny around when I'm busy. Gear out, have a blast and back to the spanners.
I do however prefer mods that will take an accidental drop kick off a roughcast wall if it falls out an overall pocket, or drops out the wading jacket while out fishing - a no nonsense tank to suit natch!
We can't all lounge around in a smoking jacket, discussing the state of Abyssinia, while leisurely dripping ambrosia atop the latest shiny fondleslab you know... well not as often as I like anyway.
As for a prediliction for DTL - well delicate sips don't cut it, if you've just smacked your fingers with a 40oz ball pein hammer, or white hot gledes of weld have tattoed you down the neck of your shirt
Catch you on the flipside as no-one says anymore

I refer the right honourable gentleman to my previous reply :)
Single Coiler - from long stroke, single piston motorcycles - Big Single bangers - fire one stroke per lampost was the old joke - torquey as hell and sound wonderful - stick a little Castro! R in the tank and they smell great too! :14:
Gotcha. Takes me back a bit. Been the proud owner of the last naked 1100Goldwing I bought back in 1981. Takes pride of place in the garage now.
