Youtube gives a cut of their advertising revenue based upon the number of views you have if you monetise your account.

I think you need to get a LOT of views to make any money, so I doubt it's a big money spinner for these two (it might be that they don't get paid at all until they reach a certain number of views or something - I'm not quite sure how it works exactly).

That "charlie bit my finger" video is said to have made about half a million dollars for the family, but they got hundreds of millions of views.
