I do mine on one of my gas rings - I started off getting my blow torch out, but the gas ring does as good a job and is much easier.

On a serious note, I've just ordered some mesh for my aga-s and was wondering about oxidising. I've seen some folks do it before rolling the wick and then do it again whilst others roll then oxidise. So which is best and why?

I find a quick going over with a blue flame, it changes colour, helps when rolling. Once rolled to the correct size give it a good going over with the flame. A real good going over. Burn some liquid on it. I don't quench in water.

Thanks chaos I'll be doing mine on the gas cooker to start before shelling out for a blow torch. I'm not a good enough cook to warrant buying one under that pretence, lol!
