How to know if you have a short or not?

If you try it on a regulated mod you will get a message saying "atomizer short"

What causes a short circuit? A circuit that is too short, or in other words has too little resistance, of course!

What causes a short?

Vape Lord? I'm not sure your username is really fitting, if you don't know what causes a short and you have no way of testing what you are using then you shouldn't be using a mechanical mod, full stop .... you have a very long way to go before becoming a vape lord.

If your coil is built to draw more amps from the battery than the battery can safely deliver the battery will protest and it may explode.
I dont use mechs but thats my understanding of it.

Ah okay thanks mate. Yeah i have made sure that it's a good battery with enough power to safely support my 0.5 ohm coil :)

No need to be rude. considering the only rda setup i've had in my life beofre my pulse was a kangertech regulated dripbox, i think im doing pretty well actually. I have a tendency to learn things very quickly and become a geek in whatever im interested in very quickly. This was just a question that i was curious of as I want to 100% make sure i don't make any mistakes. As far as i can tell, ive successfully built a decent coil with no shorts. what kind of things would it have to touch to cause a short?

And guys for the record. Only used it for 10 minutes (as i said... irresponsible on my part.) (ordered my Ohm reader) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N8XBIYQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?

I have now stopped using it and shall not do again until i make sure that the ohm meter shows that i haven't got a short. On my specific rda what kind of things would the coil have to come into contact with to cause a short?

anything other than the posts, where is should be making contact with them, the deck, the cap...

but it's not just the coil, you get no second chances with a mech... so literally anything else between the positive and negative side, the 510 pin with the negative threads etc etc etc.... a small bit of wire bridging between the deck and the insulated part of the deck, if you don't check it you have no way of knowing if there is a short you can't see somewhere.

But as long as you are aware of the risks in using it then carry on old boy.

A short can be caused easily. A loose coil, a loose post, a coil touching the cap, a tiny bit of wire caught in the wrong place, a faulty 510, a coil too close to the post, a Coil that is too low in ohms... And so on

Oh man this is quite a lot to take on board. All i know is that i have copied a YouTube tutorial from a experienced vaper. All i have done is got my coil out of the package, put it from one side of the deck to another and screwed it on. here's 2 pics, tell me if you see anything out of the ordinary :)
