How to reduce steep time

You don’t steep a rum and coke, or a glass of cordial, right? You just stir it and drink it.

I don't really have much patience really; certainly could not leave it for months. my mix is a 70:30 with no flavour and no nicotine. I usually make my batch whilst using the one I made earlier. The one that's steeping I give a shake every other day and keep it in a dark cupboard. To aid the mixed ingredients achieve the same temperature and viscosity on the day of mixing, I just put it on top of the radiator for a while. I think purists may blanche at my method; but it seems to work ok. ELTIEN

No, I believe only freebase nic causes what we describe as steeping. Vg and pg just need a wee stir.
I have read over the years about different ways of steeping, no one way is right or wrong but what I got from all the articles I've read is that steeping is the process of ensuring the flavour, nic, pg and vg all steep together.
Surely the nic and flavour will take time to integrate into the pg and vg

Why 'steeping' anyway? Why not 'maturing', or 'ageing'? You don't steep whiskey or wine. You let time do it's thing. And you can give time a wee helping hand by mixing up your nic with your concs, but that's it.
Chuck it in a cupboard and go windsurfing for a month. Job done.

I think this is wrong though. But it maybe depends what you mean by steeping.

There are chemical reactions that take place between the flavour molecules and nic. Vg and pg only mix, they don’t react. That’s why you need to stir it. They are chemically stable.

You could also stee your rum and coke, but all that will happen is it will go flat.

A very interesting subject.
Will definitely be doing some more reading on the subject.

Well I'm convinced enough to give it a go. I think the way I'll do it is to mix up the flavours and nic in one bottle, then the pg/vg in another. Leave a week or so, mix, shake and vape the next day. I'll do this with the same recipes I've had steeping in my old technique for a few days. I'll try them side by side to see how they compare. If it works I'll make a batch or work through my nic shots and then buy some of that 72mg stuff for my next batch.

Another question if you kind apes don't mind; after mixing this stuff up, let's say it's steeped suitably and tastes fine after a couple of weeks, how long is it OK to keep in the bottle before it goes off? Assuming a dark cupboard somewhere at room temperature and that once opened it's vaped within a week. My goal is to make batches that should last at least two or three months at a time and I don't really want the last of a batch to taste too different to the start of the next batch (if that makes sense).
