In my opinion it affects the air flow and produces less vapour on the other side (maybe its just me) as my air hole on the top cap seems to be drilled on a slight angle.

I would agree with what KMS said @tatau Your coil needs to be pretty tidy so when you thread the wick through it is all making a nice contact on each part of the coil. I would also consider dropping the resisitance down as well, 2.40hm is a little high. Out of interest what guage wire are you using?
thanks guys i got it going pretty decent at the moment i made a smaller diamater coil, 1.6ohm at 10 watts lots of vapour now, coil could be bit together though lol
