As others have said, if you're not smoking you're not a smoker. However I still regard myself as a smoker in some ways.
I have not smoked real tobacco, with the exception of the odd blip (last one over two years ago), for three and a half years and am firmly a Vaper.
But I've also always felt that without ecigs ....I would be smoking. Deep down the name still fits psychologically if not actually. Once a smoker, always a smoker etc. I also empathise with smokers. The vilification , the demonisation, the diseased lepers as they have become to the nanny state and high ground moralists, to be 'treated' with 'medicine', mocked and pitied. As a life long stubborn smoker I still defend anyone's right to do what they want with their bodies.
Early in the life of this forum I posted a poll below. I said then that as time went on I may change my view as Vaping became mainstream. At the time of doing the poll there were some friends of mine who used the term E-smoker which I didn't care for much but sort of got where they were coming from. Hence the poll. It hasn't had much support ever since and probably rightly too as we distance ourselves from smoking more and more

...We don't bite..
It is weird, at work and medically I am classed as a non smoker. Insurance wise, I am classed as a smoker, although its now 12 months since my last cigarette!
I am going to fight this decision now I have reached this milestone
Normally insurrance companies should decide that after 12 months of quitting, you would be classified as a non smoker, but i believe age has something to do with it also. For example my insurrance company only requires me to sign a paper to be classified as non smoker ( after a year that is ), see it as a letter of intent
That is correct, but if you die of a smoking related disease, and they request further investigation, they can refuse to pay out. Now I have spoken to my insurance company at great length, and stated if they were to 'blood test' me now, I would have high nicotine levels, but would have no other chemicals associated with smoking in my system, so where would I stand??
I cant take the risk that my kids wouldnt be provided for financially, but I do feel in my heart that it is wrong, hence why I am fighting it, and prepared to continue to do so, until I am deemed a non smoker.

The best answer I can get is 'I dont know' along with 'we would probably not pay out'. So at present, I have to stay at a smoker, so there would be a payout upon my death, I cant take the risk that my kids wouldnt be provided for financially, but I do feel in my heart that it is wrong, hence why I am fighting it, and prepared to continue to do so, until I am deemed a non smoker.
