What's new

In need of a little advice on RTA's

I just didn't want people to think I was being awkward lol. But yeah your right @rew I've had some rubbish tanks over the years. Reading this, I'm tempted to just go for the Zenith, when I run out of nautilus coils,, see if it fares better, one thing about it though, is its as simple as it gets, while you might not be able to pull it apart to clean it, on the flip side, it probably won't bloody leak as much, or have parts ceasing together like quite a few tanks I've had, The Smok Big Baby Beast is one of the worse for that, with the chimney piece you get for the smaller coils. It always ceases to them, requiring a lot of pissing about to separate the 2.

@Fuctifino Vaping will always be much cheaper than cigs, by a considerable margin, unless they tax it to the same extent of course. I don't mind paying for coils, £7.20 (is what i pay for the nautilus coils on average) is reasonable enough. its mostly just how quickly they fade that bugs me, because it tastes bloody horrible. I already get most of my liquid for a quid a bottle, and there's really nothing wrong with it surprisingly (paid a lot more for a lot worse over the years) With that said though, when I was using mostly sub ohm stuff, and getting more expensive liquids it used to cost me a bloody fortune. Would go through some of the big short fill bottles in like 2 or 3 days I was going to have a try at mixing my own liquids, then I decided to try LiQuid, (with a lot of doubts) But been using them ever since for the most part.I will get 20 bottles (10ml) at a time and it will last me a few months easy. When I was smoking, I used to smoke rollies, or had done for a number of years (normal cigs got too expensive a long time ago) 50g of cheap tobacco at the time (like amber leaf) was about £18 a pouch last time I bought one, I'm sure its gone up since. I Would get just over a week out of it, so there really is no comparison. When it comes to normal cigs, those are over 10 quid for 20 now, which would usually last me a day. I dunno how anyone can even afford to smoke those anymore :hmm:

Just of late, i've managed to 'extend' the lifespan of those troublesome BVC coils, generally getting a bout a week out of them, before needing changing. I put juice in the wicking holes first on the coil, all of them, then after fitted, fill the tank up, and leave for a good half hour or so. After that, i reduce the wattage down to around 6 watts (for the 1.8 ohm coils)...and gradually bring it up to where i like it @ 8.5 watts. Seems to be working.

I'm wondering if Aspire has changed the way the cotton is packed around the coil itself..perhaps they've changed to a different type/brand of cotton..and that effected the way it needs to be primed now?

In the beginning, when i started vaping a year ago, i could just whack a new coil in, 5-10 mins primed and it was good to go. Not now.

LiQuid isn't a bad brand of juice, i started with them..the Banana Chocolate one of theirs is quite nice.

I do that with them already, been doing that for quite a long time with new coils. Also inhaling without firing helps, because it helps pull the juice through, keep doing that, until you stop seeing air bubbles. Some do last quite a while, I think my record is about 2 and half weeks, but that was ages ago now. But some will still burn out after a few days, or even hours regardless of what you do. Others will last a week, on rare occasions 2 weeks. I think the quality control is just non existent. It would be fine if the few hours and few days were rare. But its the other way around, usually out of a packet of 5 you get 2 good ones if your lucky. You may just have won the Apire BVC lottery with the one you did that with :18:

I'm on the coco nana now:13:. I also really like the Blue Raspberry. Decided to try the HVG version in my Clieto. Its yummy!

The quality consistancy is a bit haphazard i'll grnat you..maybe i happen to just have a rare decent pack then! lol! In any case...i'll use up what i have..then move into RTAs i think...hopefully perfect my building skills, cos me first RTA keeps leaking via the air vents! Something about the coil being set too close to the wicking holes i'm told.

It's a pity Aspire (& Smok) QC has gone the way it has, as i rather like the little Nauty Mini tank. They're not themselves any favours that's for sure.

I've only ever had one smok kit (a g-priv with big baby beast tank) It was expensive and I hate it. The mod is stupid, with this touchscreen that can set things to 220w just by holding it in your hand, if your not paying attention and don't lock the screen (not a fun experience on a coil that's meant to run at like 60w I can tell you) and the tank isn't the best designed and built thing either, as I already said somewhere on this post. The coils don't seem to be too bad though, as long as you make sure you saturate them properly first, but the G-priv usually kills them long before use over time does anyway :19:

I've got a Baby Beast tank knocking about, had a look at it yesterday..and thought the odd sliding top it has (as i think several of Smok's tank also have), is a daft design. It unclips away a little too easily i think. If i had that in me pocket, i'd be concerned about that the tank's sliding top lid could open & leak juice. I've got another similar Smok tank..the TFV something or other...dunno whether if it's worth trying them out. The only Smok mod i have (won in comp on here last year), is some triple battery G320 Marshal 320watt thing, with a huge bright red fire button on it!

My Big Baby Beast has never come open in my pocket, thankfully, although I don't take it out very often, with the G-Priv its too big and bulky, plus the amount of vapour it gives off is obnoxious :18: It actually gives really good flavour though with the right coils, probably better than the cleito (and if you haven't noticed yet i love that thing when I fancy a DTL vape) I usually use the Q4' coils. But the thing I hate the most about it is the adaptor...chimney part. When you get it you get these stupid big coils that are basically awful (chuck em in the bin) but they keep it TPD compliant,. But when you buy coils they're a lot smaller and you have to use it. Every time you take the coil out, that piece seizes to it, and without pliers and other tools, its pretty much impossible to get off. I shouldn't have to find some tools every time I have to take the coils out, the smaller baby beast might not have that problem though. But its not actually a bad tank with the right coils (and there's a lot of choice!

I tried to take my Baby beast apart yesterday, to have a look inside....the bloody thing wouldn't give at all! So i thought, sod that for game of tin soldiers!

I'll stick to me Crown SE1 tankfor now. Plenty of flavour (& clouds) to be got from that tank! :D

Yeah I heard the crown stuff is quite good. Thinking about getting a new subohm tank and mod at some point, I still enjoy cloud chucking, and setting off smoke alarms from time to time much to the delight of those around me! :13: my Cleito's are pretty old now and getting kind of battered, and a little crusty. If I do though.I might just look for another kit, kill 2 birds with one stone,. Not doing it for a while though.Trying to not blow all my money on vape stuff!

Well, you do alot worse than a Crown....the coils fo those are pretty amazing...my .25s lasts for ages @60 watts, sometimes as long as 4 or 5......months! But that's just me.

I have the Rafale tank too, which is related to the SE1, as they're both derivitives of the Crown 2 tank. But the Raf is a pain in the arse..it's got a silly spitback spiral thing in the chimney, which kills the flavour. Some Raf users have managed to knock the spitguard out..but i haven't suceeeded yet. Might get the new Crown 4 tank someday..read positive reviews about that one.
