Despite coronavirus infection rates continuing to fall, Woking remains an area with one of highest infection rates in Surrey, latest figures show.

Each day, the Government releases a breakdown of the infection rates across England, which are calculated as the number of people per 100,000 in any given area who are infected with coronavirus.

The latest Public Health England data shows Woking has an infection rate of 588.3. The area recorded 611 new cases in the seven days leading up to January 17.

Although figures are provided on a borough or district basis, it is possible to hone in further on hyperlocal areas, as each place is divided into smaller neighbourhoods.

This means people can pinpoint exactly how prevalent the virus is in their postcode. Infection rates in local areas are given as an equivalent, as they do not have 100,000 people within their populations.

At a hyperlocal level, statistics show the infection rate in the seven days up to January 16. Data for the days since is not included as it is likely to be amended and updated.

In Woking, the Government lists neighbourhoods with infection rates ranging from 1,245.8 in Sheerwater, which is among the worst in the country, to 266.5 in West Byfleet & Pyrford North. Data is included for other areas such as Knaphill and Horsell.
