I'm adding an update and some of my thoughts on the Itaste MVP in addition to Gary's, (it would seem a little redundant to start another separate review thread for the exact same device). Things are now more positive for me, so hopefully I'll remain within the forum rules with the information. Otherwise, fingers crossed that Gary's problems are addressed positively and appropriately very soon.
I'll also refrain from any comments regarding the vendor as per Mark's advice, except to add the following as it has relevance.......Gary received an e-mail back from the vendor informing him that there was a protective film over the VV display that was extremely hard to notice, but when peeled off, revealed the display underneath in perfect condition, so that thankfully addressed that problem.
After my device was cleaned up, everything now looks OK. Quite why it was covered in greasy fingerprints is anyone's guess, and obviously none of us expect to receive products in that condition, but it's not a deal breaker by itself and it is now clear that the unit wasn't actually damaged.
My device is now operating exactly as it should be. It was still behaving strangely at first, and at one point, the VV display flashed up the numbers "999" for the "puff counter" and the device turned itself off, (I hadn't even taken 99 puffs, let alone 999). On turning it on again, it again flashed up the numbers 999, and again turned off. I simply turned the device on and off again several times without actually vaping from it (I can't remember exactly how many times I cycled it on or off, but it was approx 10 times), and it has now been absolutely fine since and seems to be working well.
Now that it is working as it should be, I'm getting an excellent vapour, throat hit and taste from both my MT3's, and with the STV Vivi Nova that was supplied with the I taste MVP. The main activation button is a tiny bit spongy, but I'm used to the manual or VV Ego batteries that have a more "clicky" activation button, I'll get used to that in time. The VV adjustments are working very well, and it gives the unit the capability to fine tune the device to exactly the perfect point for your e-liquid and the tank / clearo/ carto of your choice. The more you experiment with it, the better it gets. The buttons that adjust the VV are nice and crisp and are very easy to use. The VV display has a nice bright LCD display that is easily viewed in direct sunlight, or in a darker room. In fact, the display seems to have a mirrored effect that reflects direct sunlight, making it a lot easier to see in brighter conditions. It looks as if it is Iridium coated to achieve the mirror effect, but don't quote me on that one.
At first the device feels a little heavy, but you quickly get used to that, and it soon feels quite natural and comfortable In your hands. I've charged my Galaxy S ii off it fully once and my Kindle Fire HD also had full charge from it too. I've been vaping on it for over 24 hours now it is working well, and it's still in the green, so it is very useful in that regard as well.
They are a clever little device, no doubts about that.
If you're going to want to take this device out and about, it's not something that is going to easily fit in the pockets of your Jeans as an example. You're going to want larger or deeper pockets (no pun intended). If you're getting one mainly for use at home, they are ideal, and at the current rate, it wouldn't surprise me at all if I went 5 days without the need for a recharge.
The "puff counter" is not going to be something I'll be using personally, but that's not to say that others may find it very useful. It doesn't go above 999, and if you turn the unit off, the counter is reset. If you wanted to religiously use the puff counter, ultimately you'd need a notepad or somewhere to note down your counted puffs if you really want to keep track. I can see how it could be a useful feature for some people who may be monitoring puffs to see if they are managing to cut down, or to generally check how much they are using it, so it isn't a bad thing at all.
One criticism I would have about the I taste MVP, is the little selector switch on the bottom to enable or disable the output to charge other devices; It isn't flush with the bottom, so when you put it down onto a flat surface, it wobbles about and could easily be knocked over if you're not being careful. Other than that, I can't fault the itaste MVP personally and would have to say I would definitely recommend them. Whether you are relatively new to vaping like me (I've now been at it for nearly 11 weeks), or you are a veteran; This device certainly has a lot of appeal and I have no doubt that it would prove equally useful to both noob or veteran vapers :-) .
A bit of a rocky start, but now that it is working properly, overall it is a good gadget to have and it has made my MT3's far better for functionality, flavour and vapour than the standard manual 650mAh batteries could ever provide.
Would I get another one? Yes.
One hopes anyone considering an itaste MVP finds the info useful :-) .
Cheers,
Wolfy.
