What's new

Is it time to draw any conclusions yet?

Who was the last competent PM, how far back do we have to go?
Thatcher, like her or not, was competent. Major would have been if the members of his Gov weren't so corrupt. But we've not had a competent PM, since then., so 30 years.

Cant really disagree, despite being the wrong flavour profile for me.

Words cannot express my distain for that woman. She, and Blair, are the architects of our current disastrous situation.
.............. but, as you say ................ I never doubted her competence. I just didn't like her vision. :)

......................... and as it goes, I think Blair was far worse, I loathed him with a vengeance. It was his government that embraced the whole 'spin' thing ............. which I suspect is why we are now where we are. :(

Thatcher was neither principled (Al-Yamamah) nor compassionate (no example needed). But in many ways she was straight up. But Blair is literally a wolf in sheep's clothing, even nowadays.

But back to the article... interesting to compare UK to Spain, France and Italy.

I wholeheartedly agree. It's indicative of Blair's skill, that the the Middle East peace process has not just stalled, but gone into reverse, since he became an envoy. The UK second most successful purveyor, and most enthusiastic user, of fake news. After Murdoch, that is.
