BBC News - High-powered hairdryers under threat as EU considers ban

High-powered hairdryers are on a list of household electrical items the EU is considering banning in an attempt to curb energy consumption.

A study, commissioned by the European Commission, has identified up to 30 appliances including toasters and kettles which could be restricted.

They're missing a trick not including e-cigs

They are so fucking thick its quite frankly unbelievable. Lower power = longer usage time = same overall power consumption.

Same for restricting vacuum cleaners. You will need to use it longer than a high performance one so same net energy consumption.

Just wait till they come for the kettles....

Hopefully it will make people consider that agencies aren't always right, and could be wrong about e cigs. Doubt it will, but could be a positive.
