Of all the things they could be legislating -> enforced solar panels, small wind-turbines on top of every house, LED street Lamps, --> No I have a plan lets limit the power of vacuums, Tumble driers will be banned next you wait

All this crap quite clearly shows the problem with the continual growth of government of all levels. It has to be seen to be doing something, so it keeps shitting out more and more legislation, that is more stupid each year.

I think if you sacked around 80% of government across the planet, that would be a good start.

I can see where the EU are coming from with regards to saving energy, but, as usual, they dive in and approach things arse about face. Surely it's all about efficiency rather than consumption. I can see no problem with a high power hair dryer that's giving out the heat expected from that power, but I can understand that a high power hair drier, using inefficient heating elements, can be wasting energy in relation to it's output.

Companies have had a long time and active encouragement to improve efficiency. Yet the wattages keep going up. I haven't seen the reports on this, but I will bet money we will end up with 5 years of crap appliances and then the companies will pull their fingers out like they should have done in the first place. Lightbulbs is a classic example of exactly this.

When I saw the report on high power cleaners, it WAS mentioned that they were striving to improve the efficiency too. Just irks me that they pontificate about this kind of thing, yet refuse to accept their idiots over legislating vaping gear
