Hi All, a newbie here today with a burning question or two. Ex 60 a day man for 3 weeks now enjoying the new life of vaping. I have set up my istick pico using 40W on a 0.5 ohm coil, DTL using 3mg juice. Loads of clouds and relaxing. Problem is I am not getting enough nicotine to be able to ditch my patches, so today took reciept of a MTL Aspire Pockex so I can up the strength. I want to try some Nic salt juice with 20mg. Kit came with a 0.6 coil and a 1.2 coil and have read that salt is not recommended for sub vaping so any advice here please. I have tried regular juice but anything over 6mg is like swallowing barbed wire using MTL. Tips?

Hi and welcome.

In going to follow this thread as I have a friend who needs high nicotine setup

I'm sure an ape will be along shortly to advise

You could try -

A/ A 6mg standard or salt nic liquid in your Pico tank.
B/ A 20mg salt liquid in the Pockex. I would use the 0.6 coils, as they’re just better imo, I found the 1.2 a bit naff.
C/ A 10-12mg salt nic liquid in the Pockex, if you find the 20mg too much.

As an ex 60 a day smoker, 20mg is unlikely to be too much on a 0.6 ohm coil. The ‘no salts in a sub ohm vape’ is a kind of arbitrary guideline that doesn’t hold true across the board. You don’t want to be vaping 50mg Nic Salts at 120w, for example, but lower nic levels at lower power suits some people.

Try some of the dr salts 20mg salts from vapepotions. Decent liquid and very good prices.

If you’re finding the liquid too harsh at over 6mg I’d wager it’s your kit at the wrong wattages or the wrong juice.

Yep. 20mg salts in the pockex with the 0.6 coils should be fine. I've cut down the nicotine now but I was using 24mg salts at about the same wattage the 0.6 coils put out and it was fine.

Thanks for the tips. Been on the Pockex for 2 days now but struggling to get a good MTL draw, seems to be too much air flow, and end up drawing direct to lungs. Which is defeating the object. Oh well will have to practice the technique.

Quick update. Now using nic salt 20mg on the Pockex with 0.6 coil so strength and hit are perfect for me but am having issues with popping sounds and the juice turning brown. As I am MTL should I try changing the coil to a 1.2? I realise the browning is probably the sugar caramelising so maybe its too hot. Thanks for the tips above, 7weeks no fags.

Congrats on going from 60 a day to none for 7 weeks, that’s some will power you have, fair play to you! I found the same thing with the pockex in that the air flow was a bit too much, and I tried the 1.2 coil but I didn’t notice much difference hit-wise. Maybe try upgrading to an MTL tank with an adjustable airflow?
