Kanger Protank 1 Rebuild

Reason for heating the wire(blowtorch or dry burn)is it reduces the springiness of the wire thus making the "compress the coils together" much easier.Often the compress together looks like they are all touching, but they aren't as they're likely to still have a very very tiny gap between them.

Ah.. :-)

And what about stainless steel wicks? Are those blowtorched for the reasons I suggested?

My wicks get "cooked" on the gas cooker for the same reason,it makes rolling them up much easier(and I can also see more of the frayed ends on the edges of the mesh if I heat it red, plus it also burns off any residue oils etc)There are videos on youtube of guys simply wrapping the wire round the mesh wick & pulsing the power to gradually get the entire coil to glow evenly,if I try this method,I get so many issues with the coil shorting on the little frayed wires sticking out from the edge of the mesh.If you don't have a blowtorch/gas cooker, then a lighter will do the job just not as quickly or thoroughly.

.20 Kanthal at 6 wraps with a cotton wick 2.4 Ohms every time. Atty lasts me about 2 weeks chain vaping on Protanks 1 & 2
