I bought a kfl from myepack on Friday and for the life of me I cant get a successful build on it. Everything I've tried so far has come up with 'short' pr 'low load' of about 0.0 to 0.2. I even tried about 16 wraps of 28 gauge and it still does the same.

Now, looking at the deck the positive connector seems to squish down in the middle, could this be causing the short?

I tried unscrewing the 510 screw but it wasn't budging and dont want to force it incase I do have to send it back (havent contacted them yet as I wanted to see if I could resolve it here first)

Anything I can do, or is it goosed?

Ate the two halves of the build deck touching each other (the blocks that the screws go in) or is there a loose bit of swarf/wire bridging them?

Does it still read as a short with no coil installed?

I havent seen anything between the two, and yes it comes up the same with no wire on it. Ill try and get a better pic of the blocks

Right. If it's reading as a short with no coil in them you're never going to be able to get a working build on it.

If there's no visible short between the blocks then I'd suggest contacting the vendor.

Cheers, had a feeling that may be the case, just wanted to double check first.

Got some clearer pictures of the blocks

That's not a clone version that I've seen before. I've got to say it looks pretty poor in your pictures. Is that glue under the positive block (the big one)? It seems to be sitting at an angle....

Do you have a link for the device on the myepack website?

The only other thing I can really think of is the 510.

Is there a proper gap between the 510 centre pin and the 510 threading? If they're touching then you may be getting a short there rather than on the build deck. Do you have access to a different device to test it on? I have a couple of attys that don't play well with certain mods

looking at the second set of pics in the first pci it looks like the insulator is abit fucked and the block is touching the deck so if it was tocuhing even a wee bit you will get a short

Cheers guys. I dont have a multimeter at the moment (ham radio accident), and only have an ego to test it on. I'll drop myepack an email and see what they say.
