Hi guys following all your advice I've been out and bought me first mechanical. Intending on buying a dripper when the funds allow it but until now I've got my kayfun on it.

Usually run that on my vamo at about 8-9 watts / 1.3 ohm micro coil with Japanese cotton. Made a similar coil for the nemesis setup prob about the 1.2 mark and don't seam to be getting a good hit from it.

So my question being, what are your nemesis / kayfun setups ?? Thanks.

That's odd. At 1.2 Ohms off a fresh charged battery @ 4.2V it should be giving you about 15W.

Hi Lefty
Nemesis/Kayfun set-up is 6/7 wraps around a 1.8mm blunt needle, 28AWG kanthal with a Japanese cotton wick. Comes out at 1.3/1.4 ohms, performs very well with heavy, flavoursome clouds. A freshly charged battery in the Nemesis will provide around 13 watts dropping to around 11 or so as the battery drains. Personally I like it at 12/13 watts so I use a regulated device to maintain this. ;)

Thanks a lot guys!

Think I'll try a little higher ohms like your setup. Maybe 1.4 like I used to have it.

That's pretty much where I'm at with it too. It's fine on a mech but I find I change the battery pretty quick when the voltage drops a bit. Started using a kick in it and I change the battery less often. I know it's not really a mech any more but it works for me and still has the same feel.

As I said, like Audiopsyence, I'm running at 1.4 ohms and like it that way. Still makes me wonder why you weren't getting a good hit off it with your present build. What's happening with it? not enough vapour? dry hits? Is it the same juice your using? I know the Kayfun isn't recommended for low ohms builds but at 1.2 ohms it should be fine. You hear of people vaping at much higher power with them but I'd have thought that they might be modified around the juice channels and airflow. Not something I'd be interested in, just stick to the RDA's if I want more vapour.

Clean your threads, switch and pins on the nemy you might be getting quite a high. Voltage drop.
Change the pins out for copper if you haven't already and your switch to magnets

Yeah I can second the clean ALL the screw threads and the pins... don't forget the threads in the tube, they will blacken over time, its carbon build up caused by the high amps low voltage current. It makes a big difference to mine, I have a nemesis and kayfun too.

Also remember, the higher the ohms of the coil then the less watts flowing through it when your using a mech mod.... I think 15 watts at 1.2 ohms is a bit optimistic. I run my kayfun at/around 0.9 - 1.0 ohms... to be honest thats a little low for my tastes however its about as good as I can manage with the kayfun as space is limited and its dual coil... I get best results from it using my hana mod set at/around 17-20 watts depending on the juice.

As above, keep everything clean, contacts especially but it could just be your build :-/ sometimes you do what seems to be exactly the same thing but it just doesn't quite work out right. Spend a few minutes cleaning your mod up, a few more rebuilding your Kayfun and if everything isn't dandy let us know what's going on. Is it dry, weak, hard to draw, gurgling, harsh, etc? What you've got should be a killer combo ;)

Kayfuns and Nemmies - Without getting into a cotton/slica debate, and regardless of what wicking you choose, a coil resistance of +/- 1.0ohms, mounted well up from the air hole is about (imo) the 'sweet spot' for this combo. The more above 1.0 ohms that you go, the less the performance.
Worth bearing in mind that the Kayfun is happy with skimpy wicking. Too much wicking, whether that be cotton, silica, voodoo, eko, or grandmas socks, makes a Kayfun struggle to perform.
