Kayfun V3.1 -Faulty or being difficult?

Right, bought a fasttech Kayfun 3.1. Trying to coil it, failed miserably. When I try to test the resistance (should be approx 1-1.2ohms) just get shorted. Tried three coils now. Before I chuck it out/ set fire to it/ jump up and down on it could anyone tell me what's up with it? Here's a couple of photos:

although fiddling with the positive pin may have sorted it, looks to me like the problem was quite likely the tail of your coil from under the positive block screw. you can see it poking out a bit which would probably touch the metal chimney when you screwed it on, and shorting out the coil. adjusting the positive pin may have spun the positive block slightly and stopped the coil tail touching the chimney tube. theres my 2p
