How do you mark your batteries to keep them paired or to use sequentially? I tried sharpie but it rubs off, would it be OK to use a band of different coloured electrical tape?

above, yes.

i just keep my pairs in the twin box they came in.
got 5 sets on permanent rotation for individual mods and change at least 2 pairs daily.

I`ve always wondered, would I have to take the manufacturers` wrap off before replacing it?

I remove the manufacturers wrap. If you wrap over the manufacturers wrap, it can make the battery too big to fit in the mod, and potentially damage the wrap getting in and out. Depends on the wrap as well, some are thicker than others. But I'd go with removing it first :)

^^ LIke he says.

I put off rewrapping batteries for years because I thought it would be dead fiddley. I couldn't have been more wrong, it takes about 2 minutes. When you take the old wrap off, just be careful not to lose the polo shaped insulator bits at the end.

Thanks but knowing my luck I`d start off with a battery and end up with shrapnel - I`m leaning towards a new permanent permanent marker.

I number mine with paint pens - my 'single mod use' 18650s, 20 and 21700s are numbered 1, 2 ,3, 4 - my paired sets of 18650s are marked 1/1 2/1, 1/2 2/2, 1/3 2/3 etc.

I put red wraps on my 25 Amp 18650s so I can easily identify which are best for mech mod use, but I only change the wraps of my other batteries if they are torn.
