Kylin m RTA help

Thanks for all the messages, I have watched countless wicking tutorials for both the unity and the M, nothing seems to work well for me.

I have been primarily going with the 3 threads of firebolt method. But no matter what I try I either get a bitter / slightly burnt undertone, or a death by super hot spitting balls on my tongue.

Now I'm fairly sure the spitting is when I've thinned too much, but then when I try not thinning so much I get poor flavour and burnt taste.

Just about ready to give up on this tank - ordered a geekvape Zeus X to try for a while.

Been using the nexmesh @ around 60W (I've tried lots of variations on the wattage)

Basically, at this point, if you've tried everything, rewick it but purposely overwick it a little. Vape on it at 40 watts or so until you start feeling it getting a little dry. Take the build out & snip a bit off, repeat that until it wicks nicely at 40 watts. Then move up 5 watts each time & trim & adjust. Basically, start with a heavy wick & work backward until you hit the sweet spot. Once you do, take pics of the wick for future reference. Or, just throw it in the bin :D

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I've gotten close!!!!
I've gone back to my falcon king for now and ordered a Zeus X (which I've been reliably informed is a doddle to wick) - I've gotten used to mesh though as all my sub ohm tanks are mesh coils so I did want to get the Kylin right.
I will try a few more times and see how I go!
Thanks for all the input

No worries pal

I've a couple of Zeus X RTA's & they're way more forgiving in terms of wicking, just don't be stuffing too much in the wicking ports, & they vape just great

Mine arrived today & wicked it up at lunchtime & it was a breeze

I wicked it Vic's way, 3/4 of a muji pad, about 35mm in width, peeled off the outer layers, pulled it apart a bit & loosely rolled it up, like Scottish Roll style

Pinched the end & pulled it through, snipped it to the edge of the juice ports, raked it through a little, juiced it up & tucked it down a little, filling the tops of the ports

I found this a lot easier than using the Unity/ Kylin M cotton threads

Does seem a little on the juicy side so I'll try a full pad next time

I have found the best way to wick mesh RTAs such as the Kylin M and Profile is to fan out the cotton after you have trimmed it down to the edge of the base, then tucking just the bottom half of the fanned out cotton into the juice well and trimming the remaining cotton so its flush with the build deck. The best way to fan out the cotton is by prodding the cut ends with your tweezers/screwdriver. It can take a bit of time and finesse. But this method has never failed me. It gives you just enough cotton to allow juice to flow freely and maintain peek saturation without compromising the surface area of the cotton making contact with the mesh, ultimately this is what will cause a dry hit, the way the cotton contacts the mesh. This is the purpose of the spring loaded ceramic wick block, to ensure full contact even over a period of time after wick begins to degrade slightly. It makes it a lot easier using Vandy Vapes mesh cotton or wotofo's. Lightning Vapes does a YouTube video on building the pharaoh mini rta, this is a similar method but it's tailored to the pharaoh mini. But it's the same method for fanning out the cotton and tucking the bottom half then trimming. It is a very neat way to wick as well as being very effective. I will include a link and feel free to message me if anyone needs help or just for a discussion :).
