Lockdown V3

Maybe but we can't go back in time, we are where we are... and regardless of how the numbers are being presented, we are not in a good place now. I know for a fact cases are increasing around me, my mate has it right now, coughing up blood and feeling like shit. It might have been better to do a lot of things a year ago but we didn't, there's no point in going on about it now.
The thing is , go back 4 months ago and that sort of suggestion was shot down. Can't do it , can't lock people up in their homes just because they are old (ironic given what a lockdown is).

I suppose it's more of the reaction online people have had, I've seen it elsewhere mostly. Question something and they assume you are out not following rules, devaluing lives or peddling a conspiracy theory. It's been such a shitty time for the internet that I've kinda switched off from it for the most part now. Not just covid , anything really , but that is delving into another conversation for another time.

All I'm saying man is that it's incredibly frustrating that so much has been shot down from people just questioning things. You saying (and I don't mean that negatively at all) basically hindsight is a wonderful thing, there was many people saying this month's ago. All it was ever met with was just a complete shut down. You aren't a doctor or a scientist etc so much hypocrisy with many people (not you personally )

Maybe I'm just sounding off like a moaning bastard. Just frustrating to suggest such ridiculous ideas after the first lockdown and then 6 months later be much more applicable compared to a national shutdown for a third time.

Covid is just mentioned on the death certs..... without a positive certainty as not tested (it's probably likely in the doctors opinion) .... it happens all the time, majority of old folks will have pneumonia mentioned on their death cert....covers all bases really..... so yes there is plenty of middle ground.
That is actually why the terminology changed man.

Because there wasn't a 100% certainty it went from died of covid to died within 28 days of a positive test.

So I don't think there is a middle ground , if covid is mentioned it makes the list as per the terminology. That is a pretty vague way of saying it because it covers all bases. So not sure how you can have a middle ground there.

Yeah I know mate... it is frustrating and I don't think anyone thinks it's been handled well. I don't know if a different approach would have had better or worse outcomes, maybe better for some and worse for others. Arguing with each other isn't going to make anything better though.

Im no arguing man, merely pointing out that the 47 were other-covid related (suspected) but not added to the main headline of 674...... I read that you can be positive for 90 days on the test...make of that what you will.

Yeah it's entirely possible to keep testing positive over a longer period. A juventus player was tested positive 6 times back in march / April so that was more than the 2 week guideline.

That's entirely true, I mentioned in a previous post, that my Daughter in law has just tested positive for the second time, three months apart, she was ill the first time, but has no symptoms this time, unfortunately her and my Son are off work for ten days and 14 days respectively !!!

Apparently none of the 47 were Flu related either, according to the Gov website, nobody was admitted to an ICU in England with Flu related Respiratory diseases or Pneumonia, between the end of September 2020 and the end of December 2020 !!! Covid has eradicated the Flu as well apparently, either that or the Flu vaccine has drastically improved, even taking in to account the uptake in vaccinations last year !!!

You don't think the massive flu vaccination push which included enormous numbers of not only the vulnerable but also those, regardless of age, who live with the vulnerable, plus all the lockdowns and the shielding of vulnerable groups plus the vulnerable staying home even when they could go out, has anything to do with it? All of that combined must have a massive impact. Apparently norovirus has been virtually non-existent because everyone is washing their hands.

Or people are not going to Hospital with the flu in anywhere near the usual numbers as you have to be near dying to get in, plus self isolating with flu like symptoms ( could be the Rona) for 14 days then symptoms subside...who knows.
Unlikely to be the flu vaccine alone though, as historically the NHS is swamped this time of year with it, vaccine or not..... a combination you mentioned possibly.

Most people hospitalised with flu are elderly and/or vulnerable. All the effort by those groups to avoid catching coronavirus just has to have an enormous impact on flu cases. I just don't see how it cannot. Self-isolating at home with flu like symptoms is definitely another possible factor. Hospitals have refused patients even in the first wave, unless literally dying, as you said.

You either see it or you don't mate, if the Flu was that easy to eradicate, I'm sure elderly people would have been told to take these steps every Winter, and we could have prevented the average 10,000 deaths we usually get, only time will tell, but you can bet on one thing, we'll be locked down every Winter from now on, to "Protect" the NHS, that will save the Government from having to spend any money on it !!!
