Lockdown V3

You either see it or you don't mate, if the Flu was that easy to eradicate, I'm sure elderly people would have been told to take these steps every Winter, and we could have prevented the average 10,000 deaths we usually get, only time will tell, but you can bet on one thing, we'll be locked down every Winter from now on, to "Protect" the NHS, that will save the Government from having to spend any money on it !!!

According to the news conference today 80% of over 65s had the flu jab. Up 10% on the year before. And that doesn't include the millions of younger people like myself offered the flu jab this time simply because of who they live with. Add all other covid avoidance measures I mentioned previously plus Rickster's point on isolation and I really don't understand why it's considered strange or unexpected.

But I agree; time will tell. Although, I can't see any version of the universe where annual lockdowns are instigated once people have been vaccinated against covid. I'll keep my money in my pocket for that bet. :)

I dont often look at the covid threads on here but thought I'd mention that I thought the Boris 5pm statement was very good and was pleased to hear for once the severity of the situation we are all in. Especially the comments made about the negativness from the media and the stupidity from some of the general public.
It's all to easy to criticise and put down the efforts that the NHS and the government are doing. It would be nice for a change to hear positiveness on what's being done.

No criticism of the NHS as their hands are tied.
They can only do what the Government allows them to.
Will they give the Nurses a deserved pay raise ?
No chance.
Boris doing well ?
I'm sure the 78,508 people dead think so.
UK Governments are corrupt to the hilt.

My best friend died just before Christmas from covid, it was very sad, I will miss him. You can reduce your 78,508 by one because no one is too blame other than the irresponsible people NOT following the guidelines.

Why are folks irresponsible ?
When folks like Cummings set the example
The Government have the power to lock everything down
lock the borders, set curfews etc but they don't
We still have some Schools open
Also places like Takeaways should be closed
Only genuine essential workers

I know many pretty responsible people in my circle of friends that still dont stick to the rules. To my mind the government are balancing the pandemic issues with the economical issues.
I'm guessing some schools are still open with greatly reduced pupils for the kids of key workers.
Takeaways are providing a food service for people.

I'll have a little wager with you and donate my winnings to Charity, considering that the Government expect to have all over Seventies, who acccount for 89% of Fatalities,Innoculated by late March, and yet Chris Whitty has already said there may be a need for further restrictions next Winter !!! It doesn't take a genius to work out whats coming !!!

Sorry for the loss of your friend fella,
the positives you are hearing is Boris once again promising stuff, what he promises and what gets delivered are two different things, this is fact and has been proven time and time again, it's not people being negative, it's a fact that people have been let down by his promises before during this pandemic.
