What's new

Looking for good VG & PG bases.

To be honest I didn't steep it at all. I was just making a 5ml test batch so I just gave it a good shake. I know steeping is normally an important part of the process but when you're just making such small test batches it's a bit impracticle to have to keep waiting 2 weeks before you can vape them.

The recipe I used called for 5% vanilla bean ice cream, 4.5% creme de menthe and 4.5% chocolate fudge brownie.
When I vaped it, it had quite a sharp unpleasant menthol taste, particularly on the exhale, but I couldn't really taste any real mint or chocolate flavours.

I'm thinking of trying to add some TFA peppermint and a bit more chocolate and drop the vanilla bean down to 2% to reduce that menthol taste.
I've seen that recipe and the 8x 5* ratings do make it look appealing but it just looks wrong to me.
Have a look at this by a well known mixer.
The mallow and merengue should add a thicker creaminess to the ice cream and the menth looks a little better ballanced.

you should make a 5ml batch up and leave it for 4 weeks before altering. Taste will improve over the 4 week

I don’t think waiting two weeks for a small tester to steep is impractical because that little sample could save you a lot of wasted ingredients if it doesn’t turn out well and also will give you the green light to go ahead and mix a larger batch if it turns out well. Many of the more experienced mixers advise to try mixing a tester of single flavour concentrates at different percentages so that it gives them a good idea of what to expect from it and how high or low to push it. The rule of thumb is that anything with creams and custards needs a longer steep, some even for months at a time whereas fruits and menthols just a day or two.

If you end up buying larger quantities of PG/VG Lubrisolve do the best prices around. It’s good quality base liquid, I’ve been using them for a few years for DIY.
They don’t offer free shipping though so smaller amounts workout cheaper via Darkstar/Vapable.
