Microcoil cotton burning :(

Yeah been using it with silica fine for a few weeks, maybe I'm just more conscious of it drying out with cotton, if my silica dry hit it wasn't really an issue.

@Vern i have kayfun lite original so no airflow control, this model is meant to provide the perfect balance out of the box. Although your right if I did have airflow control tightening the draw would indeed solve my problem :/

Depends what you screw it into. All 510 connections are not the same and some supply a lot more air to whatever is screwed into it than others.

The Aspire tanks are pretty sensitive to airflow for the same reasons. Get the airflow dialed in 'just right' and the vape is orders of magnitude better than if it's too airy or too tight.

If I put a stock Aspire onto a ZMax it's airy fairy. If I put the same tank on the MVP with the ring on it it's spot on, if I put the same tank on an SVD it's not as bad as the ZMax but not as good as the MVP.

If you have airflow problems the best way to solve them is with an airflow controller, which will set you back about £3.

You can microcoil with silica just as easily as you can with cotton.

People use cotton because, despite it being flammable when dry, it's more porous than silica and provides much better juice to coil coverage so the flavour is improved as more juice is being vapourised.

If you use silica to wick a micro coil you need to be careful that the coil is the right size for the silica you're wicking it with. With cotton you can roll the wick to any thickness you like so you have more leeway.

VaperCaper what your saying makes sense except that the kayfun gets it's airflow from a hole on the side of the unit so it has nothing to do with the 510 connection. Thanks for the input though :)

"I'm going to say this only once .. and its my opinion only ...

Cotton ... is a: flammable and b: tastes like shit

I absolutely don't get why anyone would want to use it".

Because set up correctly it pisses over silica and mesh for taste ,

:flamewar: :P

I suppose you could try priming it by using your finger to cover the air-hole, at least partially

That's what I'm currently doing to pull the juice through, but it's a £70 atty I shouldn't have to do that it should auto feed :/

Didn't realise the KFL did air the same way as a KF does.

In that case you can put something into the airhole to restrict it's size, or put a piece of tape over the airhole and pierce a smaller hole in the tape.

It's designed to work with a silica wick installed and if it feeds fine with silica in it I'd just build a microcoil with a 1mm internal diameter and thread it with 1mm silica.

After months of everyone raving about microcoil and cotton setups I thought fek it.

Got some organic cotton pads from boots and already had some .32 kanthal, coiled the wire around a little screwdriver, around 7-8 wraps I think, mounted it on my kayfun squeezed pulsed ect till it was glowing consistently from the inside out and I was rather happy with it 1.3ohms. Now the cotton, cut off a sliver pointed one end and threaded it through cut to length about a mm from the base not blocking the juice Chanel's at all filled her up and it was great loved the flavour and vapour even at 3.7volts it was brill, it was official I was a convert.

Then my most feared thing ever happened the cotton ran dry and it burned urrggggg yakk (I feel like I've violated my lungs with scorched cotton smoke) nooooooo. What did I do wrong? The only way I can vape it is my manually taking a harsh drag without firing the battery to pull juice into the chamber, why is the chamber not filling :(

The only thing I can imagine is the cotton has swollen that much it's blocked the Chanel's, but it was only a sliver and no where near the Chanel's, wasn't even touching the base :(

This is exactly why I was afraid of trying cotton

Strongly advise practising with cotton on a dripper first to get the hang of it.

ZT happily sucked on one of my cotton filled attys and didn't die last week. Cotton is the future but get some experience in the present first ;)

Thanks yeah I'm going to try a silica microcoil, might try cotton micro in a protank, could be a dream in that just doesn't agree with the kayfun without tightening the airflow

I've had numerous attempts at wicking my taifun gt (clone )with mesh and ecowool , kept getting dry hit or flooding , thought sod it let have a go with a cotton microcoil , da daaaaaa , perfect ! lovely stuff . and after a couple of tanks i'll pull out the cotton , dry burn the coil , wack another piece of cotton in there and da daaaaaa , jobs a goodun , simples ,
