Hi all

(bit of a long one sorry)

So I have been on here on different threads asking similar questions, and have got some fantastic tips, ideas and methods, but I can't seem to get any of them to work for me

I don't know if it is because I am a fussy Vaper, or I am just not doing it right.

I know my coils are good, because in my Protanks and Hypertanks (both Bottom coil clearomizers) I get awesome vapor production, never a dry hit, never any leaking, they just perform awesome.

If I do a similar setup on Genny style RBA's, RSST and the AGA T2 the coils glow bright, no hot spots and get hot really quick using .20 Kanthal but on .32 Kanthal they take forever.

So I stuck with the .20 as I got the best results, but the second I put in a wick, juice it up and fire it, it's instant dissapointment, poor vapour, takes ages to get anything out of it and kills my battery so quickly.

I get my ohms solid all the time and it has been alot easier with the RSST than the crappy Aga T2 but i'm on the brink of giving up

I just dont get why it's under performing? I understand that alot of people drill out the air hole but this is not an option for me, surely I should get decent performance from the standard unit, I do from my protanks, admittedly I do rebuild the coils to my taste, but if I am building the same coils in my RSST, surely it should perform at least the same as my protanks? at the moment it's like a cheap disposable e-cig or a CE5

I've tried

  • SS Mesh
  • SS Mesh with a cotton top
  • SS Mesh with Ekowool sleeve
  • SS mesh with cotton centre
  • Silica Wick
  • Cotton Wick
  • Ekowool Wick
  • .20 Kanthal 5-6 wraps both Micro and not
  • .32 Kanthal 6 to 10 wraps both Micro and not
  • .9 Kanthal Ribbon 3-7 wraps

Nothing works!!! it's infuriating!! even more so since I found out the youtube videos I was copying were stating .32 Kanthal, which I used and only found out yesterday that America use AWG, which means that .32 Kanthal is thinner than .20, once I figured that bit out it made a bit more sense and stuck with .20

So with that rant out of the way lol and if you have made it this far (and not given up reading it lol) are there any of you Genny Yoda's out there that use the RSST with success, and WITHOUT drilling anything??

If you would be kind enough to tell me your setup's or have any suggestons it would be greatly appreciated

something like

.20 Kanthal A1 @ 6 wraps round a 3mm drill bit, using SS mesh

or

Sounds like your choking your wick mate

And if you have it to hand a picture would be very helpful

Thanks for your time :)

The best ive had a genny is using SS rope with a ekowool sleeve just on the top part where you coil. Ive used 0.20, 0.25, 0.28 & 0.32 all work well usually 3 or 4 wraps, mech mod and a VV/VW device. What device are you using?
Btw yeah don't wrap to tight with ya coils, you should be able to move them slightly to even them out.

Using a Vamo V5, so anything below 1.2 ohms it doesn't like

I'm a bit reluctant to buy anything else just yet as I already have 2 protanks, a protank 2, a protank 3, 3 hypertanks, 3 Kamry X10's a T2 and an RSST

Was toying with the idea of a Mech Mod, but heard they were dangerous, stories of exploding batts etc

I think my problem is choking the wick, all my SS wicks fit to the point of a slide, but if I put a sleeve or a cotton top on i kind of have to twist the wick through the coils to get it to fit

but even if the wick was being choked, I should be able to get something by dripping shouldn't I?

is the SS Rope a bitch to cut?

ok, NO mech mods aren't dangerous, only if you start stacking batteries, going sub ohm on the wrong low amp battery and don't have "Vented" mods. But anyway, that's for later lol. Have you tried to put the wick in, then a small sleeve on top, THEN wrap a coil on it? So your wrapping while the wick is in place? That way you can control the tightness of the coil?
SS rope is easy to cut, put a piece of tape over where you want to cut (it keeps the strands together) then I just use wire cutters, it may take 2 cuts depending on your cutters. Any help?

I can't get my gennies to work either - its frustrating because I hear they are great when you find that magic build.

In my case I can't get them to wick, whatever wick I use.

I've eventually concluded that the 100% VG I loaded into them is too thick and heavy.

So, when I can be bothered and I'm in a good mood I'm going to try adding a drop of distilled water to one gennie and then drain the other gennie and refill with a PG heavy juice.

What juice are you using?

And mech mods? Piece of piss mate, I only use my Vamo to check Ohms and battery levels now. They don't blow up in your hand honestly!

Let us know how you get on.

You might not want to do it but the airhole needs to be drilled. It'll massively improve the airflow which will result in a lot more vapour.

Ask Seedy about gennys, he had a lot of trouble @ first, now hes a cloud chasing hole drilling nutter! lol

I'll give the ss rope a go

I have tried wrapping straight onto the wick but I get hot leg syndrome or coils not touching. But practice makes perfect
