Last night i had another attempt at re-coiling and re-wicking a vision clearo, only this time it was my wife's, (ooer!!), and wouldn't you know it, after succesfully doing my own a couple of times, i spent ages fiddling with my wife's, getting extremely stressed out, (i still haven't mastered the art yet unfortunately), re-assembled everything and gave it a test fire and everything was fine. Filled it with her fave liquid, pressed the battery button, it lit up and i took a draw and nothing happened, no vapour, nothing. Tried again, lit up and nothing happened again. Tried a third time and the battery blinked 3 times, now this has happened to me before and it was a tiny bit of the wire touching the body which i trimmed off and everything was fine, i did this with my wife's, tried it again, the battery blinked 3 times and now the battery light has stayed on. Worse than that, if i attach the clearo to the battery it gets extremely hot! :banghead: I've scoured the 'net to find a solution but not had much luck so far, suffice to say the wife isn't too pleased. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :anyone:

Sounds like you could have a short mate, (you still have a bit of wire in contact with something that it shouldn't be), either recheck your work with the coil, or remove it and start again.

It's possible you may have knackered the battery too, or does the battery still work OK with a clearo that is operating correctly?

Rebuilding the heads for the clearo's you have is a bit of a fiddly affair, have you considered changing to a different Atty with heads that are a lot easier to rebuild perhaps?

Thanks Arctic_Wolf, i've taken my rebuild out and put back the original coil and wick. The battery is still a problem though. Last night the blue led on the battery wouldn't turn off so we just left it overnight, got up this morning and the led had gone out, (i'm assuming that the battery had run out of power), anyway after trawling through lord knows how much info online i tried lifting the centre post of the battery. After doing this i connected it to the charger and switched it on at the wall, the led blinked 3 times as it would normally when being put on charge and the small light on the charging unit is showing red to say the battery needs charging so i'm just waiting now to see if it changes to green. I've seen another article on ego batteries that says that if the led is stuck on, tap the end on a hard surface a few times until the led goes off, if it doesn't then tap it at the other end and repeat it until it goes off. Apparently something to do with a pressure switch or something? My next thing to try i think....

If the LED is constantly illuminated then in all likelihood the battery is constantly firing per se, which would explain why the battery was getting very hot with a clearo attached.

Keep a close eye on it whilst charging in case something untoward is going on!! The last thing you need is a questionable battery exploding on you or bursting into flames and things get really bad. If you have any doubt at all, bin it mate.

If it does charge OK, but it continues to get hotter than normal when you attach a clearo, or if the battery is constantly firing it would probably be a good idea to get a replacement and again, cease using it and bin it.

Are you still able to turn the battery on and off (5 rapid clicks on the button)?

Arctic_Wolf, it didn't charge as far as i know. The charging light didn't change from red to green. I can't turn the battery on or off in the usual way with the 5 clicks either, it does seem as if the battery is constantly stuck in the "on" position. Looks like i fried it (oops). Gonna have to get a replacement by the look of it. I'm not sure if this re-wicking and re-coiling thing is gonna be for me after all, unless i can find an easier way of doing it. Any suggestions would be very happily received ;)

Some batteries have a 10 click reset function which may work for you.
Failing that, as artic_wolf suggested, I`d deffo bin the battery

As already mentioned mate, rewicking and coiling the CE5's is going to be extremely fiddly and you're probably only going to excel at it if you suddenly take on the dexterity and hand size of a bloody Smurf lol.

I'd also double check that you're not rebuilding them with a significantly different wire gauge. If you are using a much thicker wire than the factory, that too could be part of the problem, causing shorts and unwanted contacts, and if you're really unlucky, frying more batteries in the process.

Otherwise, trawl the net as far as you can for YouTube or video's sourced elsewhere for some comprehensive guides on rebuilding the heads for the clearo's you are using. Or, have you considered getting a system that would be easier to rebuild the heads if it is something that you'd like to do to cut costs or customise the factory built heads to your specific needs? Have a look at some Kanger T3's, MT3"s or even the Pro tank. You could also look into the Evod's or some Vivi Nova's, there are a lot of video's available on how to rebuild the heads for these systems for your guidance.

Good luck with it :).

Heya @Triumph, how you feeling now mate, have things settled down a bit for you again now?

Heya Arctic_Wolf no I'm still ropey, but a tad better now the steroids seem to be kicking in.
how you keeping mate?

soz for the mini thread hijack yoda1970

if you look on YouTube for rebuild stardust, there's quite a few good tutorials for rebuilding cclearo's & did you try the 10 clicks of the battery?

I'll just say I'm hanging in there thanks mate, as you say, don't want to hijack Yoda's thread :eeek:. I just broke 3 months + 1 day, woop woop.

Yeah does sound like a short make sure when you cut off the wire that you do it with nail clippers and push each end away from eachother.
