What's new

Need confirmation I know wtf I'm doing...

I go for same type of juices as daz and id give a word of warning about 20% as your rule of thumb for flavouring percentages. With strong flavours such as anise/absinthe/oranges/citrus etc less is more, try and use flavour art concentrates you only need 1-3% in most mixs and they also taste naturel

Also start with 5ml tester batches to beggin with till you have a proven recipe etc

It's mainly fruit bases flavours I had ordered (just my personal preference I enjoy them more) but thank you, I will certainly play about with ratios and keep you all posted

Calculations are incorrect, as you have neglected to factor in the vg or pg volume of the actual concentrates.

Yep, that's all seems fine mostly, you're not going to kill yourself ;)

This was stage 1 for me too. I wore gloves for the first couple of times until I realised I wasn't going to spill any nic using a syringe, do be careful though.

Stage 2 is using 'ejuicemeup' where you can enter and save your recipes. I was still using a syringe at this point.

Stage 3 is getting a set of jewelers scales and mixing by weight, the ejuice program also provides weight values once set up correctly. This is a much more accurate and repeatable way of doing things.

Do google searches for things like 'best banana concentrate' to get some advice on the better concentrates and don't mix too much of a new recipe just in case ;)

Some sound advice being offered here, particularly around making small batches for flavour trials - this is where your wastage costs are, repeated failures also lead to frustration and becoming disillusioned. Take small steps to build confidence.

It's absolutely the wrong approach to set a target for flavour % before you've got any clue on the flavourings you're going to use. Better to start out with ready made flavour mixes or reliable recipes, like the clone thread here. With indidivual flavours I would mix up 5mls of each one so I could gauge it's strength, only once you know the concentrate well enough can you start to blend it well with other flavours. Gradually you build a picture of each manufacturer's relative strengths, and each flavour type ... fruits, tobaccos, biscuits, creams etc.

Mixing up DIY juice is easy, but making good juice takes time and patience. Don't rush it. Take a shitload of notes as you go and enjoy the learning process. We're all still making mistakes and learning.

Aye concentrates are PG, you had me worried for a minute lol. I was supposed to do these today but had no chance to even sit down till now. Will have to get it sorted tomorrow or weekend.

Wait until you have plenty of time and you are relaxed before you do it. that way you are less likely to make mistakes you don't want to be rushing it.
and as said above use a notebook or laptop and take LOADS of notes and i mean loads that way you can go back over them to make it again or to tweet it if needed.
i also make notes as i try it like it needs two more weeks steep or good to go at one week ect ect.
