New Covid strain spreading across the UK that's less likely to cause symptoms

Some people who have recovered from COVID-19 might not benefit from COVID-19 vaccination.

In fact, one study found that previous COVID-19 was associated with increased adverse events following vaccination with the Comirnaty BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine (Pfizer–BioNTech).

In Switzerland, residents who can prove they have recovered from a SARS-CoV-2 infection through a positive PCR or other test in the past 12 months are considered equally protected as those who have been fully vaccinated.

Although longer follow-up studies are needed, clinicians should remain optimistic regarding the protective effect of recovery from previous infection. Community immunity to control the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic can be reached with the acquired immunity due to either previous infection or vaccination. Acquired immunity from vaccination is certainly much safer and preferred. Given the evidence of immunity from previous SARS-CoV-2 infection, however, policy makers should consider recovery from previous SARS-CoV-2 infection equal to immunity from vaccination for purposes related to entry to public events, businesses, and the workplace, or travel requirements.

Im so over this fucking shit now.

No one actually knows anything, it changes from morning to night, on the news 2 days ago it wasn't that serious, now its like its started all over again and we have to get the booster asap, possible restrictions blah blah blah......

Everything is confusing. If its as bad as they are saying then lockdown for fuck sake or shut up.
Let's stick to social distancing, masks wearing but unfortunately so many people won't as usual and then we will be locked down, probably with less support then the first 2 times.

I feel sorry for the homeless, watched a programme on them the other day and how the pandemic has affected them and the lack of help, so sad. Mental Health support is so overly stretched, surgeries being cancelled left right and centre, people dying due to lack of treatment (non covid related)
Im thankful for having great family, friends, a roof over my head and food on the table, it could be so much worse for me and im sure many of u.

I'm tempted to lock myself away completely but i really want to see my family as ive kept myself away from them for 7 weeks now due to having covid and feeling so shit.

I just don't trust our government anymore after everything thats come out this wk.

Rant over......thank u

Problem is we just don't know how bad it's gonna be yet. It's only gonna be varying degrees of bad tho. Cannot see a lockdown under any circumstances except the NHS getting overrun. To try and suppress the virus just for suppression's sake seems pointless if this variant is going to become the globally dominant variant because there's no way we're gonna keep it out unless we close all borders permanently and lock down completely under house arrest, and that's simply not possible.

Lockdowns also bring in a whole host of other problems, too many to list. Undoubtedly, the official position is that casualties are acceptable, the question is if the NHS can cope with what's coming. If it can't, I'll expect severe restrictions. If it can, nope. We won't know for sure until it hits and we see just how well the vaccines hold up and see the disease severity in various groups.

The ball started rolling again the second this variant emerged. There's no stopping it now, imho.

Hey

Yes i agree with everything u r saying....still sucks arse though lol
I'm hoping the severity is less, yes many people will get it, thats very obvious based on current cases, as long as it stays mild and people can recover at home then that will help.

NHS need a break too
