Yes I can see Your problem. MrKraken is very right though! Duck n take cover. I am no medical expert and any suggestions I make are merely pointers. If you have any doubts about any health aspect of e-cigarettes then you should seek professional medical advice. Phew! Now that's over..

Ok, so there are all sort of compounds that make up flavourings in e-cigarette liquids. There are natural extractions that are less common and much more commonly found sythesised additives. This means that even though you may be allergic to lemons for example, it doesn't mean that the compound you have a problem with will be found in a lemon flavouring. With the obvious need to keep formulas guarded it will be hard to discover a list of added compounds. There may be a simple solution, dependent on how bad your reactions are and how far you're willing to go. If you consult your doctor you may find a good ol' fashioned scratch n rub test will minimise risk to your health and weed out any potential problems. I know this is generally the first port of call for testing of allergies in clinics. Also, there are a handful of very nice concentrate producers that although may not divulge recipes, might check against a list of your known problem compounds to weed out any obvious threats for when you're buying concentrates to mix with. Otherwise, @antwilk and his bottle of menthol drops is a pretty bloody good one and stinks of genius!

Good luck and take care

Hi Louise, I think e need to point you in the direction of leisureliquids, He does all the basics for Mixing your own E-Liquid. You'll first need to check out if you have an allergy to the Main ingredients which are Nicotine, Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerine. If you are OK with those then an unflavoured E-liquid will be no problem. You say you're already using Menthol tips so Menthol crystals should be OK for you to use so that gives you Unflavoured and Menthol options. Leisure liquids may also be able to advise you on flavourings that are Nut free increasing your flavour options more as well. Hardware is a simple matter of picking a Starter Kit that you like from the huge range available, you may also want to get in contact with some of the other Flavour vendors and ask about allergy warnings on their products, there must be some that are nut free as it's quite a common allergy...

I understand too well your problems with allergic reactions to many things Louise, when I was 14-15 years old,I developed a ring shaped weal on my shin, went to the Docs who decided it was ring-worm & gave me a cream to apply.By the time I'd got home, the ring had spread so that one half was travelling up my leg,the other down.I returned to the Docs who arranged a trip to hospital to see the Dermatologist.By the time of my appointment(a few days later)I was covered from head to toe in these itchy fecking weals,my eyelids were swollen,my ears were swollen & I'd scratched areas of my body raw(I looked like a human shaped plate of spaghetti hoops)I was prescribed piriton tablets then various other anti-histamine drugs over the next 10-15 years as I was allergic to dairy produce/citrus produce/yeast/cold & flu remedies and at one point, even smoking a different brand of cigarette would start me off. After 30+ (age) my reactions reduced suddenly,I could now eat these products(most of them)with barely any reaction, unless it was warm or I was stressed. These days,(I'm now 51)I still get occasional reactions but it could be to anything I've eaten in the previous 24 hours and all I get to show for the reaction is really annoying twitches in my legs or tiny red spots on my wrists. The last reaction I had was my pineapple vaping juice, but it was so nice I just ignored the irritations as they passed after a day or 2.I was fortunate that I eventually overcame my allergies & hope you too eventually can overcome yours,or at least reduce your reactions to a comfortable level.

thank you so much for that info, its really appreciated, i will give that a go..if i get a little confused by it all i might need to pick yr brains a little more...so anyway thanks again m8, i,ll let you all know how i get on thanks everyone :)

Hi Louise and welcome, you will find that you can ask as many questions as you feel you need to,and most of the folk on here will help were they can or point you in the right direction if you were a menthol smoker then thats a bit of luck as theres less chance of that causing any probs

hope it all works out ok :welcome1:

That's a bit of a predicament! Hope you manage to find a recipe that works for you

The two best people here to ask are The Alchemist at the Alchemists cupboard and leisureliquids who will have a better understanding.

First off steer clear of 'natural' flavourings.

When something grows naturally there are a bazillion different chemical compounds in it, nature has no restrictions on what to use so it's more likely that a) there is something in there that you are sensitive to and b) it'll be hard to work out what it is.

Synthetic flavours are created by an experienced flavourist who uses only chemical compounds that replicate the flavour of whatever it is. while the flavours may not be perfect they are usually very close and the flavouring that results is maybe up to 10 different chemical compounds, so there's less 'stuff' in it so you're less likely to be allergic to it, and what is in it is known so it's easier to work out what the offending compound is if you do prove to have a reaction to it.

We put the 'may contain nuts' sentence on our labels as we cannot guarantee there is nothing nut based in them as the flavours are produced in a place that also works with nut oils/extracts. If we don't put that on the label and a hyper sensitve nut allergy person has a reaction to one of our liquids and sues ....
99.99% of flavours that aren't meant to have nuts in them are going to be nut free.

If you were a menthol smoker then probably the best idea is to get some unflavoured liquid with a bit of menthol in it and vape that and see how you go. If you find that vaping works for you and you don't have an allergy to PG or VG then look to try out other flavours after that.

Welcome to the planet and I hope things work out well for you.
