What's new

Not so scary after all

Go and try one, I think you will be pleasantly surprised over a stock head. :)

Right, I've filled up with my beloved Mint Choc Chip ice cream from Alchemists Cupboard, because I know that juice like the back of my hand, and it's like someone's turned the flavour dial up to 11. That's really quite noticeably better, I'm actually quite surprised because I never thought that stock heads were all that bad to begin with.

This is brilliant! I vape quite a lot of chocolatey juices and they bung up the coil in no time, and I always end up being a bit annoyed when I have to swap heads after what seems like quite a short time compared to other juices. Now I don't care! This is ace!

Awesome, my work here is done :) Dont recoil when they get gunked up, I just take the cap off, get an old toothbrush, and clean the wick/wire off, dry burn and good to go. Its 50/50 juices that do it :(

I owe you a pint :D

Can I ask what kit you're now using?

@AndyC1971 gave me some 3mm silica wick and 0.2 kanthal wire and I used it to redo a mini vivi nova, which I've got at 6.5w on a Vamo. The vamo's showing the ohms have come out at 1.7 :)

For consistency I wrap my coils on a drill bit. I use 2mm silica wick and wrap the coil around a 1.5mm drill bit (it springs out a little). 6 wraps with .2 kanthal gets me 1.7 bang on every time. I guess if you are using 3mm silica you'd want to try a 2.5mm drill. I then cut a piece of wick not too much longer than I need and thread it through the coil, twisting the wick while threading. Also a good tip to stop the wick fraying is put a little bit of liquid on it & twist it tight. I waste a lot less wick doing it this way, I only need to trip off a couple of mm. I've recoiled this way on T3, Evod, protank and now the new T3S.
If you put the e-liquid on the wick before you cut it you can cut smaller pieces without them falling apart. For best results use nail clippers instead of scissors.

I recently started using nail clippers instead of scissors and its a much cleaner cut, the silica moves away from the scissors if you're not pulling it tight so you end up with a diagonal cut. Really doesn't work on a protank.
I did try coiling on a drill bit or tightly threaded bolt but it didn't really work for me. I get a better result if I use the good old straightened paper clip trick
Edit: for man_d when you're going to wrap the coil around the wick if you hold a pin, needle or straightened paper clip along the wick. Then wrap around that too then your coil won't be too tight and should (hopefully) be more consistent

The nail clippers is a good idea. I was using a pair of top cutters from my old jewellery making days but they're not the sharpest anymore so nail clippers will probably be better. Thanks!

Yes that's the way I did it, using a needle. I did find it a bit fingers and thumbs at first and the more I went on the more tightly I ended up wrapping it which I don't think I was supposed to do. I think I could've probably got away with using a bigger needle too if I'm honest. It's all practice I reckon but I'm up for trying different ways!

It will become easier with practise, honest :)
Another trick I use is to hold the wick, clip and wire together with my thumb. Then make the first wrap diagonally away from my thumb and then wrap a nice 5 wraps, all evenly spaced and neat as I can make it. Then unwrap the first wrap so I end up with 4 nice wraps
