What's new

Other Countries

Like you said we live in a more civilised society so it shouldn't be happening, there must be other ways to punish them and not have the poor fuckers bunny hopping or being hit with a stick, it's 2020 and this thing shouldn't be happening, if they break the law stick them in front of a judge who can sentence them appropriately, what the police are doing is for their own amusement, would they like it if the shoe was on the other foot and they were the victims.
Undeveloped country can't afford it!

That's not really practical for India. Putting them in jail for say a week wouldn't be possibly in those numbers and would be harmful with virus spread. Fines would be equally difficult to implement. They're all running away, nobody carries ID and verifying it would be very difficult, let alone actually enforcing anyone to pay. Getting them in front of a judge carries similar issues. It's also a cultural thing not a new thing that's popped up because of this situation, if you look at the comments on the video they're pretty much all supportive. As for not liking it if the shoe was on the other foot there's a simple solution as shown in this youtube video.

@harumph I do see your point and agree on most of it, but humiliating them won't stop them imho but you sound like you know what goes on in India where as I quite honestly don't, if it stops the spread of this awful virus then more power to them. It just looks so demeaning to me, I will take your point that they shouldn't break the law and shouldn't risk spreading this awful virus.

Thailand are in a similar lockdown to uk at the moment with all bars, restaurants and most hotels shut down, the government introduced a ban on alcohol from March 31st to april 16th, there would be rioting in the streets if they did that here, they wont be able to enforce it i suspect other than from major supermarkets and 24 hour stores like 7 eleven.
