Problem with the Kensei

Not exactly. It spins but then locks into place. I've even managed to get a screwdriver into the top and remove all the coils and cotton but still will not come off.

So at the moment, my Ammit has a nice new drip tip :18:
Ok no worries.

My advice.

Hold on to the chimney in your left hand with a latex glove on or marigold for grip. And insert a small allen key or screwdriver into the air vent on the deck and grip it so you can use the allen key for leverage and turn the deck counter clockwise.

Dude. You are a genius. That did the trick nicely. Thanks very much for that. It looks like it was juice that was seizing it up.

No worries, bud. Glad I could help.

Yeah, or could be something simple like a small bit of cotton sticking out of the wick port that gets jammed inbetween the deck and the chimney when it is turned.

Anyway, glad it's sorted. :2thumbsup:

Just curious why you would be interested taking these two parts apart in the first place?

The deck was stuck and he couldn't unscrew it. I believe he took the rest of the tank apart to try and find a way to unscrew the deck without breaking the glass in the process. Without separating the deck from the chimney he has no way to access the build deck. :22:

Same problem we just had with the Crius. Except his Kensei was stuck and wouldn't spin at all in either direction.

Exactly what Mitz said is correct. The coils were ready for changing and I couldn't get to the deck to change them.

All good now though.
Ive never looked at it but thought the deck was independent of the chimney which was why i asked.

It screws onto the deck unless, like all my VV tanks the chimney gets too tight on the top ring & gets stuck on there .
Still not getting it though lol.
The chimney in the pic is attached to the bottom ring.
The deck is seperate already so can be accessed to build.
