The stats don't bear that out though - revenue has increased to the exchequer and profits are stable for the baccy companies despite a drop in numbers through increased taxation.

Pharma are the only ones really concerned because of the gross (and by that I mean abhorrent) profits they make from cancer treatment.

NRT is a piss in the ocean for them, the UK market value only runs to £200million.

I want to click "like" but that seems somehow inappropriate (no offence). You are spot on, greedy Pharma companies profit from Cancer and related diseases, reducing the instance of them cuts into their profits.

There`s a lot more money to be made treating disease than curing it.

This announcement has to be a good thing for vapers.The pharmaceutical companies make enough money off producing medicine's.I do agree that more research needs to be done on ecigs.but the same research took yrs with cigarettes while people smoked.the same will be done with ecigs but the difference is ecigs are as we know at present alot safer and healther thatn your normal cigarette.

Agreed. Further more, I think that the Cosa Nostra are nothing compared to government. Thats why government always goes after the mafia, as they are actually in direct competition. Anyone that thinks goverment is anything other than an elaborate protection racket needs to wake up. Just try not paying their "taxes", and you see what leviathan force is brought to bear on you.

The last thing any pharma company wants is to cure any disease. They have form for suppressing potential cures for cancer (Hemp oil anyone). Big pharma (and big business in general) is in bed with government which by its very definition is fascist. We have sleepwalked into this situation.

The very last thing they are concerned with is global health.

The only thing they are concerned with is protecting and maximising their profits. Anything else is a waste of their time.

There`s not much money to be made from healthy people.

It`s far more profitable to treat Disease than cure it.
