Ah that makes sense, I assumed it was a brand as it was capitalised.

It might have been a brand at some point, but seems to be used now for any wire of that make up. Nichrome I think is nickel and chrome. I think kanthal has iron, chrome and aluminium.

I looked it up and it's just a trademark for that particular mix. That explains it.

Kanthal is a brand / company name that makes various types of FeCrAl alloy wires. Fe (iron) Cr (chrome) Al (Aluminium) so it's gone a bit like the word hoover did

Their Nichrome wires are called Nikrothal but it doesn't sound as good

depending on the mod it probably means the coil in the atty has been built with too low a resistance or has shorted.

Bee n reading this thread and there's been some helpful tip.I use .25 kanthal and cotton in my evod and they work for me n the OH.

Just rebuilt my first coil tonight. Vaping fantastic. Sitting at 2.1 ohm. Much better than shop bought ones. Getting little bit of leaking onto the battery though. Couple of drops. Added few more flavour wicks as someone suggested, but still the same. Any ideas people ?

I don't use any flavour wicks now as it sometimes makes it worse. I keep mine more than half full of liquid and this seems to stop all leaks.

Thanks. Ill give that a try. Made another coil and its perfect. Wondering if i may of caused a slight rip or hole in the rubber bung in the first one.
