The juice wick ends up more like juice threads, by the time it's seated. But seems that's all I had at the time, that's what I used, and it worked. It vapes as good as, if not better than my PT. Just can't seem to get that one right.

Just rewicked and coiled my first evod!!
3mm silica wick with .20 kanthal came at 2ohms on the nose.
I put a couple of strands of the silica wick over the top to act as a flavour wick.
a few well deserved drinks are in order i think...
Break out the Rummmmmm!

Going to be re-coilng and wicking mine tomorrow.

Q. I'm going to be using 3mm ekowool, am I going to regret doing this?

I would say looking at my 3mm ekowool (that looks more paracord). Make sure you can get it in the slot first.
I've havn't yet, but the 3mm ekowool I have, is larger than the 3mm silica when placed side by side.
